Kevin Sites can only relate what he saw. He really does not know what a particular Marine was thinking regardless of how much of a war whore he has been in the past.
I expect that a Marine is trained not to pass someone that is perceived as a threat and not to allow a threat to be behind him.
I just don't understand how this Marine can be faulted for doing his job.

Here he is trying to paing hiself as a hero:

While the Marines go into the house, I follow the flames caused by the grenade into the courtyard. When the smoke clears, I can see through my viewfinder that the fire is burning beside a large pile of anti-aircraft rounds. I yell to the lieutenant that we need to move. Almost immediately after clearing out of the house, small explosions begin as the rounds cook off in the fire.

I would LOVE to hear from one of the Marines who was there what they think about this guy.

So here, ultimately, is how it all plays out: when the Iraqi man in the mosque posed a threat, he was your enemy; when he was subdued he was your responsibility; when he was killed in front of my eyes and my camera -- the story of his death became my responsibility.

What about the story of the death of an American soldier on the hands of a suicide bomber or an ambusher? Or the death of just one of the 50 heroic Americans who died in that Falluja offensive? Mr. Sites has been covering the war since day one, if I'm not mistaken. Just seems to me that he has a selective moral responsibility when it comes to showing the ugly realities of war.

all the more reason it should not have been released except to the proper military authorities who would investigate the incident.

And I say the F###ER Kevin Sites can go straight to hell! Articles below more than show how the terrorists are fighting this guerrilla war. There is only one rule the marines must follow. COME BACK ALIVE TO YOUR FAMILIES AND A GRATEFUL NATION, AND KILL EVERY TERRORIST YOU CAN!!

Marines shoot insurgent who was 'playing dead' Australian ABC ^ | Nov. 22, 2004 | AFP

The US military says marines in Fallujah have shot and killed an insurgent who engaged them as he was faking being dead, a week after footage of a marine killing an apparently unarmed and wounded Iraqi caused a stir in the region.

"Marines from the 1st Marine Division shot and killed an insurgent who while faking dead opened fire on the marines who were conducting a security and clearing patrol through the streets," a military statement said.

Military sources had said that the rules of engagement were looser during the operation launched in Fallujah, for fear that rebels would be disguised, fake death or wear suicide explosives belts.

Violence sweeps Baghdad; Insurgents fire on US troops in Fallujah after waving white flag San Francisco Chronicle ^ | November 20, 2004 | ROBERT H. REID

Insurgents ambushed a U.S. patrol, killing a soldier, gunned down four government employees and clashed with American troops in neighborhoods across Baghdad on Saturday. Nine Iraqis died in fighting west of the capital -- another sign the insurgency remains potent despite the fall of its stronghold, Fallujah.

In Fallujah, where U.S. Marines and soldiers are still battling pockets of resistance, insurgents waved a white flag of surrender before opening fire on U.S. troops and causing casualties, Marine spokesman 1st Lt. Lyle Gilbert said Saturday without elaborating.

Self serving leftest antiwar Bullsh*t...what's this "we" and "my" crap? He's still trying to report this incident out of context and did anybody else report all these 'conversation' he had with the shooter and wounder terrorists? This is self serving BS...open letter my a*s!
This guy is no Ernie Pyle. He's a traitor and he's willing to be one to curry the favor of the left wing old MSP that pays him. Just proves you don't fight a 'gentleman's' war in front of assh*les.

I considered not feeding the tape to the pool -- or even, for a moment, destroying it.

Should have acted on that impulse. If Sites had any love for his country he wouldn't have aired that tape and let Al Jazeera and other arab press outlets air it over and over again to discredit our troops. This tape is making it harder and more dangerous for our guys over there.

I hate these creeps who put their 'journalism' above their love of country. Sites and NBC has aided and abetted our enemies. He and his ilk make me sick.

Kevin Sites could very well be responsible for MORE sucmbags playing dead as they think Americans wont shoot them now for fear of being convicted by some wimp with a video camera.

Seems to me he overlooked another possibility and that was to turn the tape over to the Marine in charge of the operation and let him handle it from there. Even if the Marine is guilty of wantonly and knowingly executing a prisoner of war release of the tape does nothing more than provide grist for the anitwar mill and the Islamofacists around the world. He thought only of himself, not of those who would be Monday-Morning-Quaterbacks for months to come.
