And being the "fair and balanced" type of guy you are, how is that investigation going into why the terrorists were taking cover in the Mosque while firing on our Marines?
Wowee,he's not only the perfect unbiased reporter,he also saved the lives of countless Marines!
What a crock of sh^t.
That scumbag can crawfish all he wants, but He knew full well what the impact of releasing that tape would be.
If there is a terrorist attack based on the events seen in that tape, then it is on his head.
If anything- reading his account further infuriates me.
His intellect has blinded him to the wisdom of simplicity.
Mr. Sites is defensive in his letter- as well he should be. Some part of him knows he did the wrong thing...but his nuanced brain won't let him see it.
This video should NEVER have seen the light of day.
As I said in my letter to him- not every story MUST be told.
We're winning the ground war in Iraq, but we seem to be losing the information war -- the Arab press has seized the initiative, and they're kicking our ass daily.
I'm not sure what we're going to do about it. I know a lot of you want to heap abuse onto this one guy, but we need some better ideas also.
It seems like we need some new tactics for PSYOPS, public affairs, and/or civil affairs -- some new ways to help us retake the initiative in the information war.
The next time Kevin Sties goes out with the Marines, maybe they won't be so anxious to protect him from Iraqi terrorists who play dead.
He absolutely knew the impact of releasing this tape! He deserves to be drawn and quartered.
As others have said, he's a POS antiwar leftist liar.
This clown will never accompany another US military group again. If he considers this his "career" he need find another.
Sites' days as an embedded reporter are over.
Good catch! Did you just Google it?
"When NBC aired the story 48-hours later, we did so in a way that attempted to highlight every possible mitigating issue for that Marine's actions. We wanted viewers to have a very clear understanding of the circumstances surrounding the fighting on that frontline. Many of our colleagues were just as responsible. Other foreign networks made different decisions, and because of that, I have become the conflicted conduit who has brought this to the world."
What a bunch of crap. It assumes that a Marine shooting some guy is news, when the entire city of Fallujah is engulfed in combat. Pure Barbra Streisand. I understand that this guy is no tye-dyed pinko and I'll bet that he kind of regrets what he did, but this is lame excuse to justify his actions in giving this film clip to the media pool. By now, anyone knows that close-up footage of Americans killing Arabs - especially ones that could be deemed unarmed, non-combatant, wounded, etc - will be exploited by our foreign and domestic enemies.
This is what people mean when they say that one man can't accomplish the mission, but he sure as hell can screw it up.
BS pure BS
I don't think a boycott is going to help fix the problem here. The Arab press is playing this tape on a continuous loop nad getting people inflamed against us -- that's the problem. If every freeper boycotts Al-Jazerra, it's not going to change that. I think we need some new ideas.
The arab press is fortunate enough to have sympathizers in our ranks with "press" credentials.
What conceivable difference would that make anyway? Yesterday was yesterday, and nothing could have prevented them from being resupplied or even involuntarily being boobytrapped with IEDs today.
Does Sites seriously believe the jihadis wouldn't boobytrap their own? If so, his "5 years in combat" has taught him nothing.
I agree wholeheartedly but the problem is distribution. The MSM pretty well controls the distribution of images and 'information' or disinformation and that monopoly has to be broken before anything can be done.
In the Muslim world, I think a free Iraqi media is going to be a real breakthrough.
I've heard Iraqi talk radio is hot!
Ping for Kevin Sites letter to Marines...
Kevin Sites is a vile little POS.
What a POS, too many negative e-mails forcing him to write this drivel?? Sounds as hollow as Rathers " apology".
