It's interesting --- the Mexican government destroyed the campesinos and the rancheros and their lifestyle so much that you almost couldn't find a good farmworker below age 35 any more from Mexico.
Here you see all kinds of jobless hispanic youths running in gangs --- but meanwhile who is picking the chilis and baling the hay? It's almost always these old guys --- you'll find more over 40 year olds doing the hard work but almost never someone under 30. Even the illegals will tell you that they grew up on a ranch or ejido and always worked -- but the younger generations are city born and raised and won't do hard work. They'll take illegal factory jobs or deal in drugs --- but you won't get them to bale and move hay.
What part of Texas was it in?
I made another post saying that Texas is not free of racial tensions. Almost zero Blacks in the Valley. There will be racial tensions anywhere in America. Some areas are more prone to it then others. The Valley is mostly Hispanic, especially near the border. Speaking of that, some are the poorest in the nation. Some are like Third World nation. In fact, they are the least racially diverse at 99 percent Hispanic. Some parts of Houston is overwhemingly Hispanic, Black, White, or Asian. Houston is segregated, but not as some other cities I know of.
I lived in Houston for 8 years. You are right. It's also always too hot in Houston to fight.
What percentage of said Mexicans were in the US legally?
in ottawa we have white vs. somali.
I'm not sure --- many also managed to be born here because we offer free health care and maternity hospitalization to anyone from the other side of the border who cares to come here and get it. Getting born here gets their families life-long government handouts --- so many were born here.
Thanks for the link FITZ. I seem to remember that riot at that El Paso High School. I believe it might of been related to the Iraq War, which happened before it started.
They all had nerf guns and super soakers. :P
Excellent point -- what is a "hispanic"? I assume that anyone from a predominately Spanish-speaking nation in Latin America, and perhaps Spain, as well, is considered hispanic. This would include a non-Spanish-speaking Mayan Indian from Mexico, a black from Puerto Rico, a Peruvian of Japanese descent and an Argentinian whose surname is "Schwartz."
Black? Who cares. They have become the trival minority. America is all concerned with "Hispanics".
Hispanics, Mexicans are not racially distinct; why does this keep getting forgotten?
I would think it also includes the German-speaking Mennonites from the colonies in northern Mexico. Also there are quite a few French, German, Lebanese and other groups in Mexico --- they are all hispanic? Former governor Romney from Michigan was born in Mexico --- I suppose that would make him hispanic.
None of those riots had to do with the Iraq war or any wars. Most had a big racial component to them. Maybe not that latest big riot --- it was over a change in the school schedule --- which caused the riot and a complete lockdown. They later had a meeting with the parents to explain the schedule change and they started to riot. Most of the gang warfare is between different hispanic groups --- as ironic as that might seem to some.
There are many Koreans that live in Mexico, about 900,000 of them. Many Koreans live in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay. Many of the Koreans were refugees from North Korea during the Korean War. There are Germans in Latin America, especially in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico. Some of these Germans that fled to Latin America were Nazis. There are many German colonies in Latin America, especially in South America. There are many Northern Europeans in Peru I read. If you watch the Spanish channel, I see lots of Whites in places like Mexico or Peru.
Yeah, it is ironic. Now, you mention the riot over the Iraq war was in California. I bet these Hispanic gangs are usually from different nations like Mexico and El Salvador.
Mexico has many races. 60 percent is Mestizo, 15 percent White, 15 Indian, and 10 percent Asian. I had friends from Mexico who are White. I have seen a lot of non-Spanish last names in Mexico and Latin American countries. I see lots of English, German, and Irish last names in those nations.
Correction, 5 percent Black and 5 percent Asian. Mexico's Blacks live in Costa Chica southeast of Acapulco. They face lots of racism in Mexico. The Asians are usually Koreans, Chinese, and Japanese.
There was a big 400 MAN brawl at the El Torito restaurant on Tampa Ave. in Northridge about 8 months ago. It spilled over into Tampa Avenue and closed the street. Blacks, whites, Mexicans. And nobody could come up with any particular reason for fighting, according to a cop I know. That's when he called the fire department in to give the whole bunch a "shower".
