Some information the casual reader would not know, as it is not mentioned by AP for some reason:

Lara Jakes Jordan is the wife of veteran Democratic Party operative Jim Jordan, the former executive director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and manager of Sen. John Kerry's presidential bid.

She also used her position to actively campaign for Specter in his battle against Toomey.

Once he's named Chairman, it's politically impossible to remove him. We'd have to take it on faith that he'd do what he has said (in private) he'll do.....bad choice. Get rid of him now.
