The problem is that the Koran has already been stretched to cover such things as the murder of 3000 people in a far nation, some of whom may never even have met a Muslim. A religion stretched to sanction such nominally unsanctioned actions is one that becomes whatever the Imams say that it is.

And certain very powerful, very wealthy Imams have spoken on the matter, and despite whatever the Koran may have to say to the contrary, those atrocities were, in fact, sanctioned. There is simply no getting around this. Militant Islam has successfully hijacked the rest of Islam and there aren't any obvious signs that this will change in the near future. It is little comfort to someone about to have his head sawed off to state "this is illegal."
