The video was given to Reuters first, wasn't it? And since this was supposed to be pool footage, was that following procedure?

Posting a reply, even if it's only 'bump' or ping, etc., puts the thread at the top of the forum page. The latest posts are listed in chronological order as they occur.

Don't let them fool ya, it's really a sexual term. Often performed on ones own posting to get attention. Pronunciation: 'ownu`nizum

I read the article and I am a bit perplexed. From my experience, people who come that close to the face of the enemy do not usually remain ambivalent. Perhaps there's more to the story....

I wonder how safe Sites is feeling these days being with the Marines. Afterall there is an awful lot of AK-47s lawing around and plenty of ammo.

i sent you a private reply, but here it is again.
http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a3a1fed9e642l.htm will explain it and a lot more. you are reading the threads. look at the top right of the page clik on messages. you will see that the messages are posted in a list with the last first. Bump or BTTT sends the thread back to the top of the message board where many FReepers spend their time. That way it will get the attention of those who have just come on or are returning to see what's up.

At the top of the screen, on the second line, at the right, you will see a link: "Threads | Messages"
Click on Messages, this will show, at the top, the most recent message recorded in this forum.
FReepers use this to find active threads, especially older ones. BUMP or BTTT (Back to the top) means put this message to the top of this list. In other words, "I think this thread deserves more attention".

Sure hope none of his traveling companions have trouble with "enemy identification".

Apparently Sites is an ideologue with an antiwar/anti U.S. agenda. What else needs to be understood. He was on a hunting expedition and found what he was looking for. No objectivity about it.

For those of us who stood up for this guy - just doing his job - it just gets worse and worse. The thing that bothers me most is that I knew personally a couple of imbedded reporters who were former military and exceptional journalists. They told it straight and had a sense of what was going on. I had thought the imbeds were of a different caliber than the rest of the MSM, but apparently not.

Most of the great war photographers have been against war in general... For the umpteenth trillionth time, just about everybody is against war in general.

If you go to his personal blog site
Kevinsites.com you won't find anti-war picturers, notes, etc. At least I didn't. It think he's being used. He was there. He didn't set it up or trick the marine.
That said, the marines should be eliminating every percieved threat at their discretion.

Go to the imagesagainstwar.com website. The pictures he posted are meant to evoke a visceral response. Regarding motive, USMCVet made some good points.

I don't know how the "footage" (an odd term in the digital world) was disseminated but the version broadcast by NBC - Site's organization - was edited to exclude the last portion showing the bullet striking the Iraqi insurgent.
Al Jazeera shows this segment in its full length over and over - while understandably avoiding showing the latest cold-blooded and inhuman atrocity committed by the insurgents against Margaret Hassan.
Sites needs to be removed from theater and his motives should be made public - and if NBC is culpable for supporting the enemy in wartime, their license to broadcast should be recalled.
