The right wing had better watch itself. Perhaps Bush's victory over John Kerry is going to their heads. Maybe it really is true that you're never more vulnerable than when you're on top
What an idiot, the 'right-wing' wanted ABC to air the movie.
"Take, for example, the terrible decision by the ABC (DIS: news, chart, profile) affiliates that decided not to broadcast "Saving Private Ryan" on, of all days, Veterans Day."
Don't you love how he spins this as a decision by ABC not to piss off the right? As if the Right had a damn thing to do with it in the markets that pulled SPR.
Person of the Year? Money in the bank it will NOT be Dubya. It'll be someone like Kofi Annan. Or they'll go for subtly biased, and make it Karl Rove, trying their best to get him standing in a Hitler-like pose.
No, but someone in that vein. They would be more likely to pick Zarqawi than they would Bush or his supporters.
Time will pick "bloggers" in general as their "people of the year" or "movement of the year" or something like that (Time always gives it some cheesy "[whatever] of the year" moniker when they pick more than a single person). All the bloggers profiled on the cover will be left-wingers whose efforts this past year proved totally fruitless. The article will be 20 pages long, and only three paragraphs will mention conservative bloggers at all.
Just like the New York Times Magazine did a few months ago.
Person of the Year: The Pajamahadeen.
Why... Of course! Can't you see what they're already having to go through? (/sourchasm)
The funny thing is, that Time Magazine has repeatedly stated that their "Man of the Year" is the one person who the editorial board of Time believes had the greatest influence on the world scene during the past year. By their own standards, that would have to be President Bush.
After all, by his actions and orders, tens of millions of oppressed people have been liberated, causing leftists the world over to go bonkers.

I really appreciate your help. I showed the pic to a neighbor and mentioned the Orwell quote. She was quite moved. Said she had not spoken to a relative for three years because the relative was bragging that her daughter's new husband refused to take a job that was connected to defense in any way.
At the time my neighbor merely stated that she had to hang up as someone was at the door. She confessed that she had merely tolerated this relative who is not "blood kin" but the relative's smug pride in not supporting the defense of her own country made my neighbor re-think the obligations of good breeding. "It's just lost on her, anyway, so why should I let that annoying little prig into my life anymore."
Now my neighbor wants to make up Christmas cards with the smoking soldier's picture and the Orwell quote and send them to anyone that sends a "Peace Now" card or UN "holiday" greetings.
Thanks again. b.
35 - "I was thinking Swiftboat vets,"
I agree, here's my vote for Men of the Year - Swift Boat Veterans for Truth
Heroes, yet again.
or perhaps, better yet, The American GI, featuring the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth..
And what metaphors did you choose by which to slam yourself, idiot.
I'll say this for the "Wal-Mart Republicans," as the column dubbed the Bush loyalists: They're a bunch of sore winners!
So, only cretins and proles shop at Wal-Mart, and those proles must have voted Republican, sharing all the moral and religious values he so flippantly disparages. Not only that, they can't be gracious in victory while being slammed by him. Must be a bunch of losers.
Gosh, how sophisicated.
What a great story!
The gift that keeps on giving ;-}
It's simply a travesty if Time doesn't choose Bush as POY. After all, Bush's vision now rules the planet. Even Tony Blair is coming forward with faith-based initiatives and admitting that he's a Christian. Bush has made it cool for a world leader to be a person of faith. The whole world is trying to understand the culture of morals. PTL!
These people are not really incredible... They're totally without credibility and suffer from "Arrested Development!" The only way they get these writing jobs is through Liberal sufferage and chronic cronyism! They are so myopic and lobsided to the left, they can't even stand up straight!!! (let alone think straight)
I guess that kind of narrow-mindedness would be...
"...thinking strait."
I'll go hide now.
I had to go hide last night! These people entitle some of these threads in ways that just bring out the worst in me, especially late on a Friday nite!
Actually this author's brane is in Dire Straits!!!
Now I'll go hide, too!!!
