The Rosario Dawson nude scene will make you worship her, writes one.

"a staggering 150 million to make"
excellent! By boycotting this film, we get to put a big $$ hurt on them. Be glad to see Stoned Stone's career end.

I seriously doubt Stone will get that kind that kind of huge dough to make a big budget epic anymore, even the libs cant afford to throw that much money away.

She can ride in the front seat. No need to ride in the back.

Another turkey by a liberal. They all decided they wanted to do "epics" after the sucess of Gladiator with Russell Crowe. A lot of people liked that film because Crwoe's character had a form of faith and his love of his family. This was followed by Mel's huge film about Jesus. Mel also did some very sucessful period films about Scotland and U.S. Revoltionary War.

This Stone film will be a turkey. If he is hoping it is a hit based on a nude scene then he is in trouble. The Crowe film and Mel movies did not need nude scenes.

Oliver Stone should go back to Havana to stand in line with Jiminy Carter, Martin Sheen, Spielberg and others to lick Castro's boots.

When Pauline Kael retired from her job as film reviewer at "The New Yorker" magazine in the early 1990s, she wrote that one of her reasons for retiring was that she just couldn't bear to see another Oliver Stone film get released.

We all wish that Oliver Stone would retire.

Exactly right. They've tried to make "epics" that are woefully miscast. Pretty boys like Brad Pitt and Colin Farrell simply aren't believable as conquering heroes in films like TROY and ALEXANDER. Crowe had the screen presence to make himself believable as a historical figure. Mel, also, in THE PATRIOT. Pitt (while a talented actor, IMHO) and Farrell simply don't.

Oh well. I guess I just have different taste than others. I loved "Nixon". Great performance. I thought "JFK" was interesting, like Kevin Costner's performance. I loved "The Doors", it was scary what a good job they did recreating Jim. NBK was a mash up B movie not worth the time to see. Platoon was not my favorite Nam movie, but also was worth seeing I thought. It was a much less stylized (if ulitmately less satisfying) movie then either Apocolypse Now or Deer Hunter. (Not to mention Kubricks absurd and uneven Full Metal Jacket).

So all in all I think Stone has made some decent movies. It's easy to believe Alexander isn't one of them. The man made 6 of his best movies more or less on the topic of the 60's and Vietnam: Nixon, JFK, Hearts and Minds, Born on the Fourth of July, Platoon and the Doors. It's not clear he can make movies that stray far from this. Certainly the B movies were a huge disapointment. Perhaps he is a spent force.
