I have tracked this story and it is quite funny to see liberals squirm and complain about a wind farm in "their own back yard." Kerry will have to wind surf elsewhere. :-)

Why do I smile at the thought of Kerry windsurfing into the blades?

You know, these gizmos are actually quite pretty. I saw some in the midwest recently and their effect was very soothing.
I'm sorry the Kennedys and the Kerrys aren't so enthusiastic. Guess we might have to drill in the old ANWAR after all. Pity, ay?

It may cut into the sky diving activity.
Then again, a new extreme sport?

Hmmmm? I guess a guy who could have made Christopher Reeve walk if he was elected could fly.

I attribute it to a well-developed sense of humor.

When this topic first came up gigilo thought it was a fab idea, HOWEVER, (and we all know what's coming!) once he heard the wind farms were being proposed for the Nantucket area, he FLIP FLOPPED, now I know you find that hard to believe but he did! Currently he is TOTALLY against the idea, what a surprise, I'm stunned!

The animal activists are against the wind farm because birds would fly into the blades and get chopped up?

Please do not frame this in terms of liberals vs. conservatives. Wind power is a bad, bad idea. (I am a conservative and a conservationist!) There is no question the pro-Cape Wind folks supplied much of the information that went into the report. The article reads like the Wind marketing literature.
I wish we had the luxury to laugh at their claims of Tourism opportunities, benefits to the economy, and how wind will save us from foreign oil. But, unfortunately, the misinformed buy this line.
Can someone tell me how many barrels of oil this facility will save us? Does it even dent the 20-million per day consumed by the US?
My hope is that the Army Corp says NO.

I saw my first "wind farm" a couple of years ago. I think it's one of the biggest. It's near Livermore, CA. and they line across ridges on either side of the interstate. I'm not sure why, but I found them rather soothing.

"...the country's first proposed offshore wind farm would be "adverse" for some historical areas, such as the Kennedy Compound and the Nantucket Historic District." Adverse? Oh really? How?
Nantucket Historic District
Historic Significance: Event, Architecture/Engineering
Area of Significance: Industry, Commerce, Architecture
Historic Function: Domestic, Industry / Processing / Extraction
Now I don't see anything about 'the ocean view' being noted anywhere?!?

From what I have read in previous wind farm postings, these things are energy inefficient. They get dirty quickly (dirty blades are inefficient) and are expensive to continually clean. They also kill a lot of birds. I would like to see the actual numbers proving one way or the other if these things actually are a good thing ...all things considered.

Birds get chopped up in the blades, they don't look good, etc. No matter what alternate fuel system comes up there's some kind of wacko against it.
Stick with oil and coal.

So fat Teddy got his summer place declared an "historic district"? How conveeeeenieennnnnt.
To: worldclass
I am on both sides on this. Since Kennedy and the rest of the hypocrites are against it, I'm for it. On the other side, they require subsidies, a existing system since they are intermittent, and aren't cost effective. But mostly I enjoy the left going at each other.
