but looking at the big picture the choice was easy, Obama or Keyes, if you are a Republican in Ill. and you voted for Obama,I only have one question,How is your golf game?
I agree. The Keyes silliness with reparations and the draft would never be brought up in Congress by Republicans anyway, so it wouldn't really be a tough choice for me to give my vote to him. :-)

Didn't notice that. Someone in the thread mentioned Jack Ryan's wife and, well, we have rules you know. That was the first one I found that was (a) not in a catsuit, and (b) really her.

I received an email from the Rep. party (Illinois Leader??, I don't recall) a day or two before the election asking me to vote for key races in Illinois. Funny, I searched but didn't see Keyes as a candidate in any of those races. An oversight perhaps? Yeah, an oversight.
Keyes was the only person on the Illinois ticket I could vote for with conviction.

If the IL GOP tries to become Democrat Lite, they will be out of power for a generation. If you have to choose between two liberals, voters will prefer the genuine article every time.

George Ryan was never a conservative, I knew enough of his record back in 1998 when he ran for governor. That's why I cast my vote for Glenn Poshard, a Democrat from Southern Illinois who was actually more conservative on issues like abortion, gay marriage, and the 2nd amendment, despite being a big spender of tax dollars. It was one of the very few times I've voted for a Democrat.
The leftist cohort in the People's Republic of Chicagostan actually threw their support (and always fat wallets) behind Lyin' Ryan, the very model of a modern major RINO. The Glenn Poshards and Zell Millers are a thing of the past. They've been effectively purged from the Democratic party. There might be a few lonely examples floating about here and there, old fossils waiting to die.

Yet he fostered the impression he was a conservative at the time, and you'll still find plenty of folk, even among Keyes supporters, who would tell you he simply changed his colors once elected. The truth was out there to see at the time.

It's a lot trickier with a long arm.

From what I've heard Fitzgerald did not run because he was damn tired of the constant carping from Topinka, Ryan, and the other Illinois GOP leaders because he did not kowtow to their positions, especially on the appointment of the other Fitzgerald as US DA in Chicago. That guy has the Daley and IL GOP machines scared to death and they were going to go all out to defeat him in the primaries and if he won the primary, then in the general election. If I remember right, he just said to hell with all of you, I don't need the hassle.

Well that one sure isn't. Tiny little pistol, whatever it is. Looks like it could be easily lost.
(But I'd help her find it.)
