I note three interesting trends:

1) In Philadelphia, Republicans did much better than 2000 in NE Philly (Wards 41, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 63, 64, 65, 66), and in South Philadelphia (Wards 1, 26, 39)

2) Delaware and Montgomery Counties vote is almost identical and unchanged except for the higher turnout. The decay of our position in these counties has stabilized despite growing Democratic Registration tallies. This means the Democrat growth is simply RINO's becoming honest.

3) The biggest problems in the suburban counties are: Abington, Cheltenham, Lower Merion, Norristown, and Springfield in Montco, and Chester, Darby Borough, Darby Township, Haverford, Swarthmore, Upper Darby (only Upper Darby proper - Drexel Hill is still Republican), and Yeadon in Delco. Norristown and Chester are majority black slums. The other townships listed have large black and Jewish populations, lots of pro-abortion upper class women, or high concentrations of College-town white yuppie liberals. Outside of these townships, the counties still lean to the Republicans.

Bush DID increase the black vote from 2000 to 2004. There is hope! I stand corrected from my previous outburst of woe.

Note the race next to those 95% wards.

Those wards are almost 100% black.

So the result is no shcoker.

Northeast Philly is my neighborhood. There ain't many blacks up here, and certainly no precincts that would go 1131 to 3 for Kerry. That sounds like North Philadelphia or West Philadelphia.

Thanks for linking to my site. FYI, I had precincts in Ward 42 and 23.

Ah, you are here! Was the result you had in your blog from Ward 42? I'm suspecting that. Ward 42 isn't really northeast Philly.

I had 4 precincts in Ward 42 and 2 precincts in Ward 23. I didn't know the area, so I was going by what colleagues and my driver told me. They called the area "Kensington". (One friend who is from Philly responded saying, "Oh you were with the Kensos" - didn't know what it meant, but I knew it wasn't a nice reference)

I noticed no exurb type numbers in Delaware(IE Western and Northern Oakland County type areas), although a few in Montgomery.

Concord, Edgemont, Chadd's Ford, and Newtown are as close as you'll get to exurb type areas in Delco. Its very built up mostly, like Nassau County on Long Island.

Montgomery has more exurbs than appear at first blush from the voting (i.e. besides the Salfords, Worcester, Douglass, and Franconia). The Hannovers, Pottsgroves, Fredericks, Providence's, Hatfield, Towamencin, Limerick, etc. are all exurbs. We need to do better out there.

Ward 42 would have the northern part of Kensington. Ward 23 is Frankford (black and poor white slum), and Northwood (nice black and white middle class area))

Kensington is also known as the Badlands, and is the center of the drug trade.
