Mary Mitchell is indeed a hack. She has never penned anything that did not trot out the race card in some fashion. She is a leftist kool-aid drinker who will happily follow the Obama piper to oblivion.

But there are times, in certain races in certain states like IL, where Republicans have to stop preaching one-note songs about abortion and gay marriage…I'm not suggesting Keyes should have ran as a RINO, but he could have focused on meat-and-potato issues.

I suspect the gay marriage issue (GWB wouldn’t describe it that way) earned GWB votes and certainly increased turnout. But approaching social issues from a perspective of moral superiority doesn’t appear to be politically productive. I guess portraying 70% of Illinois voters as sinners doesn’t win votes.

"I do believe he is a socialist."

He's beyond socialist. He's an out-and-out Marxist.

Unfortunaetly, she is a regular columnist. And she never writes anything that doesn't in some way trace its premise back to race.

"That this Harvard-educated biracial man, who was raised in a white family, chose a brown sugar sister to marry gave black women all over this country a boost."

Can you imagine the *firestorm* stink that'd have been raised had a white person said that?

"The Obamas are now the African-American First Family."

HA!!
Yea maybe they are.

Still.

...Bill Clinton was the 1st black president. :o)

"It can only get better from here, if Judy Judy Judy gets launched."

I hope by "launched" you mean sent into orbit never to return. Judy Baar Topinka has lowered the casket into the grave that George Ryan dug for the Illinois Republican Party. She is blowing taps over the carcass of our state party. Judy is awful. The Illinois Republican Party will be in the wilderness of state and national politics until it sends Judy a-packin'.

I do. I've sort of felt that she was a democratic mole. At least she was coopted by Daley, IMHO.

We hear!! We hear!! Obama reminds me of Damien Thorne the Antichrist.

That's the kind of rhetoric that led to Keyes' strong showing last night.

I think you're overestimating her intelligence.

They are shallow, very shallow. No one should put the self interest of color, creed, or race before being a responsible American citizen and making the most informed decisions to preserve the common good of our home, our nation.

When everyone finally grasps that concept there will be no racism from any direction.

As only the third African American to go to the U.S. Senate since Reconstruction,

The liberals' incessant black counting is so tiresome. Do you ever get the feeling that in 50 years they'll still be saying Mr. So and So, the 79th black to be elected ____(fill in the blank)?

We can agree on that. I was being generous. I am suprised that Keyes did not get more votes. I would have thought his numbers would be somewhat close to the Presidents. This means there are very few conservatives there and that most of the Presidents votes were independants and moderates.

They will never count Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice, or Clarence Thomas. And I bet that those fine souls wouldn't want to be counted in such a base way.

You're right, a candidate with name recognition, which Keyes has, shoud be withing shouting distance of the top of the ticket, even without advertising $

Consider that Alan entered the state bashing anyone who'd consider a Democrat a sinner, and Republicans in Illinois as corrupt, morally and otherwise, other than those who drink a big glass of Keyes Kool Aid.

I admit I say that having not voted for Keyes, rather opting fot the Republican candidate, having been called everything from a RINO to a commie to a homosexual for having suggested Alan was perhaps running a lousy campaign.

Assaulting the electorate isn't an effective was to win votes. Assaulting the Republican party might not be the best way to get support either.
