We only need two more to make a set.

I heard on t.v. yesterday (can't remember where) that Sen. Nelson of Nebraska may jump ship to our side.

Aside from that, I only seen Dayton and Nelson (FL) as potential pick ups from this group, hate to say, unless more retire.

I think the only possible person to beat Sarbanes is Mike Steele. Keyes has already tried and unfortunately didn't do any better than his IL run.

It's incredible to me that we can't beat Cantwell and Stabenow-but then, I thought we could beat Boxer and Murray, so what do I know?

Is there an heir-apparent in the NY Republican Party that can give Hillary a run? Will Rudy be up for it or is he waiting out for the Big One? How soon would NY State Republicans announce a Senatorial candidate? Who would it be, and where can I send money. Dump Hilary in 06 should be the next war-cry.

I think the best starting place is who is likely to retire. There may be more than previously thought now that we have a SOLID majority. It's no fun when you don't run the place. I think Kennedy's health is going to seriously deteriorate as well as Byrd's. So here's my retirement plan.

Kennedy
Byrd
Sarbanes
Jeffords

Lieberman

Dump Hilary in 06 should be the next war-cry.

Of the eighteen Democrats running, she is the least likely to lose.

She is, in fact, almost unbeatable.

We need five seats. Start with the easiest, not with the hardest.

Dayton D-MN who closed his office in fear is vulnerable I would think.

If Kennedy retires, Mitt Romney for Senate?

actually I hope Lieberman doesn't retire. He's a voice of sanity for the Dems and Conniticut is liable to elect a much more lib Senator.

don't forget that we may have retirements on our side in 2006. Kay Bailey Hutchinson (TX), Trent Lott (MS), and Conrad Burns (MT) may retire from the Senate. Also our vulnerable Senators for re-election are Jim Talent and Rick Santorum. I don't expect these 2 to lose, but they will be sweating in their re-election bids.

I think Evan Bayh does a pretty good job for the dems as well. Still I'd rather have a Republican over any Democrat.

Unlikely since all indications are that Romney is positioning himself for an '08 White House run and the Senate makes a weak springboard.

I would love to see Stabenow go. She hasn't done much to speak of and in a non-presidential year Michigan typically has low turn out. That could be a good situation for conservatives to override Detroit and Flint.
