Dhimmi Carter still can't get it into his head that appeasing terrorists only emboldens them.

President Carter deserves to be in a prison for treason and sedition not paraded still on tv giving his opinion on foreign policy issues. The only consolation is he makes a horses ass(no offense to horses)of himself whenever he speaks.

Very insightful article.

I remember those terrible days of the Carter administration, when the mullahs pushed America's buttons at every turn. The US appeared helpless. It was a truly depressing day when we learned about the crashed rescue helicopters in the desert.

Ditto with the stream of attacks under Clinton. Nothing was done! Appeasement is the Dem's answer to foreign aggression. If Kerry's elected, it will be more of the same.

Yes, I DO blame Cartuh...........The WORST President of this century, maybe in the history of the US.

Hey, at least Klintoon rode the Republican Congress's stimulation of the economy into the sunset and his sexual exploits were generally good for a laugh. During Cartuh's tenure we were dead in the water economically and he was unexciting and downright depressing to boot.

What a jackass.

911 is the SNOWBALL effect of Jimmy's peanut farmer Presidency.

Come on guess.

As great a president as Ronald Reagan was, I have never forgiven him for not avenging our Marines.

"..Ahmad Khomeini’s memoirs echo the surprise that his father, the ayatollah, showed, as the Carter administration behaved "like a headless chicken."..."

True, but funny. We really don't need to hear from Jimmah Carter any more.

"..The slogan “America cannot do a damn thing” became the basis of all strategies worked out by Islamist militant groups, including those that, for doctrinal or political reasons, were opposed to Khomeini.

That slogan was tested and proved right for almost a quarter of a century. Between Nov. 4, 1979 and Sept. 11, 2001 a total of 671 Americans were seized and held as hostages for varying lengths of time in several Muslim countries.

Almost a thousand Americans were killed, including 241 Marines who were blown up while asleep in Beirut in 1983.

For 22 years the United States, under presidents from both parties, behaved in exactly the way that Khomeini predicted. It took countless successive blows, including the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center in New York, without decisive retaliation. That attitude invited, indeed encouraged, more attacks. The 9/11 tragedy was the denouement of the Nov. 4 attack on the US Embassy in Tehran..."

Also True, but not funny. There is a price for appeasement.

Carter’s envoy to the UN, a certain Andrew Young, described Khomeini as “a Twentieth Century saint”, and begged the ayatollah to show “magnanimity and compassion.”

Andrew Young is also co-author (Gary Hart the other) of the Patriot Act.
