"...coolers which did not work and temperatures frequently touching 100°F"

This is a human rights violation? Breaking news to Shaun - Arizona is hot.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio should be nominated by BUSH to run the Federal Prison System.

May I point out that sherif is a local office
and the British are not permited to vote in
that type of election either, esp in AZ.
bwahahahahahahahahahahaa

I recall adverts on local TV stations when
I was a child aimed at US travellers going abroad.
It said this: When you are busted for drugs
over there, you are in for the hassle of your
life. I submit that when feriners come to the US,
they should be aware of US laws just as I am supposed
to be aware of ferin laws when I go abroad.
Ignorance is no excuse. And the BBC is not going
to help this Brit prisoner.

I think I have seen this sherif on A&E in the past.
And if that exposure didn't get him ousted among
his local electorate, what makes the BBC and the
limey blogger think that they will? Per the usual,
the British trail the US.

Apparently the Brit left does not learn that interfering in our elections is just going to give them the opposite of what they want.

"temperatures frequently touching 100°F"

Ok two things here. I live in the Phoenix area. When it is 100 degrees here in late Jun, July, August and through September, it is a cool day. So this guy needs to quit whining. You aint in England no more Shaun. Besides, if you had obeyed the law you wouldn't be in Sheriff Joes care.

Second, Joe won re-election, the Sheriffs election was held a couple months ago.

forces inmates to wear pink underwear and the old fashioned black and white hooped uniforms,

Would anyone call this good fashion sense?

I'll vote for him in my prayers - imagine the inhumanity of actually using punishment in a penal institution...

A stock broker? The article says he's a money launderer.

"Second, Joe won re-election, the Sheriffs election was held a couple months ago."

My mistake, that should have been sheriffs primary election. Which for Joe is tantamount to winning the election.

Not on their heads though, that would be a war crime.

A stock broker? The article says he's a money launderer.

The author of the article has no idea what they're talking about. In one sentence he's described as having been a stock broker and then a day trader.

Which was it? They're two very different things.

It doesn't matter anyway - he's no longer a stock broker because his conviction means that the NASD will no longer license him and I doubt that with a US conviction for drugs and money laundering he'll ever land a license in the UK, Canada, Bermuda, the Caymans, Australia, NZ, SA, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan or anywhere else that has a decent financial industry.

coolers which did not work and temperatures frequently touching 100°F.

When inmates complain, Sheriff Joe points out that our military routinely lives in far worse conditions, and they didn't commit any crime.
