Sorry, but if there isn't a good reason for voting absentee (note the name "absentee") just don't be lazy and go vote on Tuesday.

Here in the boonies our voting place is a firehouse on my way to work. The 2~10 minute stop to vote can be done either going to or coming home from work. It's worked for us for the 15 years we've been here.

The polling places are open from early in the morning until the evening. All of the hand wringing and worrying on this thread could easily be alleviated by standing in line and casting a vote as the system intended.

With redistricting, I no longer have a polling place. I can take my ballot to any polling place in town, but will drive down to the county office and deliver it in person.

Lots of facts and quotes about the president-wannabe at the John F. Kerry Timeline.

Are you kidding?! I hand delivered mine and handed it to a worker and watched where she put the ballot before I left!! Viva La Bush!

I've been weary of doing that for years, now. I really, really need to buy a real toilet.

"You know, why can't people just GO AND VOTE AT THE POLLS ON ELECTION DAY???

I agree. There's something very special about going to your precint's polling place on election day and casting your vote. You'll see your neighbors there, too. I almost always end up having a chat with a neighbor I don't see very often, due to work and other things.

With the polls open early and staying open late, there's no reason to skip this experience. I vote early in the morning and wear the "I VOTED" sticker on my shirt all day long.
