We have got to keep Kerry away from Fenway! We want to break the curse and he looks like a curse. We are doomed if he shows up.
You'd have to ask Mitch "the wild thing" Williams. :)
Let me not jinx the 'Stros by committing the sin of presumption, to tempt an insulted Deity.......(and He should be plenty insulted by the offering at the top of the thread!).......
But I share your opinion. Tex-uss and Tax-a-chew-setts have some unfinished business.
Like a Civil War. And Reconstruction.
And the slight matter of John Quincy Adams keeping Texas out of the Union all by hisself, for ten years! Ten years while Texas -- God's own country, we just live on it -- was pressed sore between Kiowas and Comanches on one side, and Santa Anna on the other.
And Roger Clemens.
And Prohibition. (It was their idea!)
And people trying to trash marriage.
And Demmy-crats!!!
Man, do we have issues with Taxachusetts!
(Gotta win a game first in St. Louis, though -- and they'll be tough!)
It's a good thing for the Sox that Pettit is on the DL. They'll still have to deal with the Rocket at least once in the World Series - after he shuts down the Cards today
I swear he looks like he has three "Y" chromosomes. If I get to grow old and gray and see it happen, I bet all his children down to the third generation are male -- and half of them hirsute wild men with two or three "Y" chromosomes apiece, themselves.
Damon is so hairy, he could strip naked and still look like he's wearing burlap cloak. Or floor-length chinchilla.
Man it's gonna be tough to root for boston if they end up playing houston. Ya know, with sKerry being from Mass and GW being from Texas, this is going to get played up big time.
Guarding against presumption again -- thanx for the vote, and yeah, the Sox will face Rocket at least twice. I figure he'll pitch Games 2 (on three days' rest), 5 (on four days' rest), and 7 (on three days' rest). If they started him on a regular rotation, it'd be Games 3 and 6 only -- and if they do that, they might not get to Game 6.
The Astros really, really hurt themselves last night, with that late relief situation that cost them the game. They needed to rest Clemens for Saturday and Game 1.
Houston's got Ozwalt, who can pitch well (20 wins in regulation good enough?), and this Brandon Backe rookie who combined with Lidge to one-hit the Cards a couple of days ago. Asides from them and the closer, Lidge, the rest of the rotation and bullpen are unreliable to disastrous. Two or three of the guys are up and down -- good game one day, wheels falling off five days later.
If the Red Sox win it, it'll be because the Astros bullpen did their usual middle-innings El Foldo. They got super-tough for some reason yesterday, I was amazed they were able to hold the Cards scoreless for eight (!) innings after the starter got chased.
Here's a clue for Cardinals and Red Sox fans: If you see Dan Miceli appear on the mound for the Astros ...... You Win.
I was telling some Houston cops at a cheap diner last night that Miceli is like that little white goat in Jurassic Park. Whenever you see him, you know what's going to happen next.
P.S. I think a statue of George Herman is an excellent idea!
Yes indeed ... Go Astros!!
Pullease. The greatest World Series in years would be one where the two scruffiest and scrappiest teams of major league baseball would duke it out -- the Astros and the Red Sox. Both red teams by the way. I'm an Astros fan -- been one since they were the Colt 45s. They're due. More so even than the Sox.

What Would Johnny Damon do
(Oh, I don't know, maybe a grand slam and a 2 run HR
to win the pennant?)
I'd think even Kerry supporters would choose the Sox over Lurch (and for that matter, can we call them Kerry
supporters? They don't support him. They're just anti-Bush.
Again, ask your liberal friends to tell you why they're
voting FOR Kerry. "Don't say, 'Oh, he's better than
Bush. Don't mention Bush at all. Just tell me why you are
FOR Kerry."
If you don't stand _for_ something...you'll fall for anything.
From the Wikipedia entry for Johnny Damon:
Sure would love to run an ad to the JFKerry voters choose one or the other.....
A Houston vs Boston sounds even more appealing, even though I am a Cards fan.
Humor ping for your BoSox list...
