Bring it on. They're going to look like the sore losers they are if they plunk any Yankees and start a fight.
I've been following the Red Sox for almost three decades and I can't remember a collapse like this. A week ago, the expectations were so high after the sweep of the Angels. It was to the point that many Red Sox fans were actually looking past the Yankees to the World Series.
I gave up watching last night after seeing Johnny Damon clipping his toenails in the dugout. I mean, the guy had his shoes off and was just clipping away. For some reason, that just pissed me off (as a fan). I realized at that point that the team had totally lost their focus and was just playing out the string. Also, the manager of the Sox (Terry Francona) has no control. Do you think the Yankees skipper would let his first baseman clip his toenails in the dugout during a game?
At least we have the Patriots. 20 games in a row now, and counting. This team knows how to win and while they aren't blowing anybody out, they stay disciplined and never lose their focus. The Pats came close to losing todays game against the Seahawks but once again, they came up with the big plays to stop them.
Anyway, now that it is over (and there is no way the Red Sox are going to take four straight at this point), I can at least take solace in the fact that the Red Sox are not going to be campaign props for John Kerry anymore.
Checking in, but I may not be on this thread as much as usual tonight. Having problems with one of our computers, so hubby and I are "fighting" over the working one! :-(
The difference between her and Kerry is that the Yankees have never even let her come to the stadium, and David Cone publicly dissed her about her Yankee fan claim. Meanwhile, the Sox ownership not only gives money to Kerry, but had him throw out the first pitch.
I hope the Yankees put away the Red Sox. It will prepare the Bostonians for the big disappointment they will experience the morning of November 3, 2004.
Ugh! How disgusting and unprofessional. You make a very good point here. I have eons more respect for Joe Torre than I do for Francona (even before hearing about this "clipping").
I hate the Yankees.
I hate the Red Sox more.
I want to see everybody from Massachusetts lose this year. Everybody.
Go Yankees. And then I'll root for the National League champion in the Series.
Thank goodness that witch isn't donning her (virtually unused) Yankee cap and pretending to be a fan.
This might be a live thread but the Red Sox aren't.
What are the White Sox? Chopped liver?
"Meanwhile, the Sox ownership not only gives money to Kerry, but had him throw out the first pitch."
Right. And do you know who owns a big chunk of the Sox? The NY Slimes. Some New York newspaper huh.
Lowe's leg just saved a single.
I just knew this was going to happen after game 1. They don't have the intensity they had after the series with the Angels. As for F-n'k, He is no Red Sox fan, just ask MANNY ORTEZ!!
And the Times' coverage of this series is so pro-Boston it's appalling.
Nice.....El Duque getting an early K.
Thanks. Screw You too!
Here for the sweep, hope El Duque holds up...
El Duque with some control problems now -- back to back walks with 2 out.
And less chemically enhanced.
Make that two!
