Torre's usually pretty good about being unsentimental like that. Don't know what he was thinking there.
Torre has a big cushion, and a lot of offensive firepower in a small ballpark. He is saving his pitchers. He's not the one in the must win situation. If the sox are close in this game they will have to use everyone from the bullpen, and Torre would like that.
