I am glad to see that others are finally reaching the conclusion I reached months ago, the only thing that explains Kerry's continuing refusal to be honest with America is that his military records hide some terrible, terible stain. That could only be a discharge under other than honorable conditions. On what charges? We don't know yet, but treason, homosexual activity, drugs or comporting with an enemy woman seem most likely. Carter pardonded Kerry in 1977 and, after administrative papers, Kerry got his records revised in 1978 and got an honorable discharge. His prior wife, Julia, knows what happened as does her brother, David Thorne. In fact, Kerry's USNR disgrace may have been the gounds of her action in the post-annullment agreement. Maybe, that's why we may never know whether they split because he is a wife beater or a traitor.

But, again, even with more mendacity, Kerry lying every day about "integrity" while being dishonest about his background, there may be evidence available. If Kerry was pardoned by Carter, some public record must exist in the Office of the Pardon Attorney, Dept. of Justice, Washington (see DoJ site for details) and should be available in the public reading room or by FOIA request. Alas, no one in the left wing media would think of asking.

This thread was originally posted in Breaking News but has since been demoted.

The Kerry discharge story has only recently been developing "legs" with the Mainstream Media.

It seems to me that this new development is a smoking gun in that story and merits a place in Breaking News so that lurking journalists may know of it.

If it hasn't been suggested already, Thomas Lipscomb (sp?) at the NY Sun might be interested to see this.

One question. If he was told he was getting a less than honorable discharge would he not have had an opportunity to challenge or appeal the decision in some sort of military court of law? It's been 30 some years ago and it was the army and not the navy, but back then if you got into trouble the Army would offer you a less than honorable discharge and you could either accept it or go to a courts martial and challenge it, but also accept the consequences (stockade time, same bad discharge, etc) if you lost.

Good news re SECNAVINST!

There's more all of us can do to defeat Kerry! Actions speak louder than words.

See the highly regarded conservative website The Federalist http://patriotpetitions.us/kerry/. They have a petition all of us can sign - 178110 signers so far.

Petition to Indict and Disqualify John Kerry from National Office

The petition will be sent to the Senate President , Senate Majority Leader and Attorney General after the election.

"Though John Kerry has an extensive and well-documented record of anti-American activities over the past three decades, it is his acts of treason in 1970-71 that are the subject of this petition for indictment. Our appeal notes both Kerry's violations of the UCMJ (Article 104 part 904) and U.S. Code (18 USC Sec. 2381 and 18 USC Sec. 953), and calls for his disqualification for public office in accordance with the Constitution's Fourteenth Amendment, Section 3, which states: "No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President ... having previously taken an oath ... to support the Constitution of the United States, [who has] engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof."

"Why prosecute John Kerry now? In October 2003, Mr. Kerry chose to make his Vietnam war record the centerpiece of his campaign for the presidency; this has been especially true since his primary victory in March 2004. In response, more than 165,000 signatories of the above-referenced petition for indictment have made his war record the centerpiece of their campaign to disqualify Kerry from public office. We understand that no action is likely to be taken on this petition until after the 02 November election. Be it known, however, that on 03 November, we will seek full recourse in an effort to have John Kerry prosecuted for acts of treason and disqualified from any future campaign for any national office. We are thus committed to holding Mr. Kerry accountable for his actions, as there is no statute of limitations for acts of treason."

There is more background at their site.

Send the petition to as many as possible and have them do likewise!

The MSM will move heaven and earth to ignore this. God forbid that the general dumb public put two and two together and come up with four. How would they explain this away? And the fact that Kerry still won't apologize for it.

Call me a traitor but I am a veteran and I say just let it go. Kerry did his service to the country, he will lose because he is not a man of character, so let by gones be by gones.

The Kerry Administration was wrong for going after Bush for his National Guard Service and it does not make us any better going after Kerry because of his Honorable Service.

Now, before everyone goes ape one me, let me say that I strongly disapprove of Kerry's actions after the war, I strongly disapprove and rather angered that he lied about our country, while men were dying in the Hanoi Hilton. He turned his back on his shipmates and his comrades in arms. Obviously, Kerry has no idea what, "Fiedlis" means. However, I do not think it is wise to seek further blood. John Kerry will be judged for his sins by the people, let this one go. We're better then the Left, because we do the right thing.

That could be the very reason that he refuses to sign the SF 180. Were he to do so it would be fully out there and he'd be Toast to all but the hard lefties of politics.

Time to turn the pressure up to get him to sign it and get it all out there in the final campaign days.

I joined the U.S. Navy in 1979 right out of high school got out in 1982 but i still had 3 years of inactive reserve so i was actually in for 7 years 4 active 3 inactive

I was told right off the bat that i could and would be held accountable for any trouble in civilian life through my reserves and that it could be held against me later changing my Honorable to General or worse depending on the mishap !

Polybius, this is unbelievable work! Excellent. May I post this on Blogit.com, and of course I would give you full credit. And can I post your other post, too -- the one about Kerry deceiving the media which you link to in this post? I'm a newbie and wasn't around when you did that, and Blogit is a closed site (you pay to join, and get paid also by your readership)and I would like for your fantastic, blistering research to get wider readership. Also I would be certain to give credit to rolling stone for his/her contribution. I would just be the delivery person. This stuff needs to get out and there are a lot of liberals on that site. Great work, Polybius. Kudos!

It appears that the SECRETARY OF THE ARMY handles this stuff for all services.....therefore no "Navy" records??? just a thought...

below snipped from:
Code of Federal Regulations
Title 32 National Defense
PART 70—DISCHARGE REVIEW BOARD (DRB) PROCEDURES AND STANDARDS

(c) The Secretary of the Army, as the designated administrative focal point for DRB matters, shall:

(1) Effect necessary coordination with other governmental agencies regarding continuing applicability of this part and resolve administrative procedures relating thereto.

(2) Review suggested modifications to this part, including implementing documents; monitor the implementing documents of the Military Departments; resolve differences, when practicable; recommend specific changes; provide supporting rationale to the ASD(MRA&L) for decision; and include appropriate documentation through the Office of the ASD(MRA&L) and the OSD Federal Register liaison officer to effect publication in the Federal Register.

(3) Maintain the DD Form 293, “Application for Review of Discharge or Separation from the Armed Forces of the United States,” and republish as necessary with appropriate coordination of the other Military Departments and the Office of Management and Budget.

(4) Respond to all inquiries from private individuals, organizations, or public officials with regard to DRB matters. When the specific Military Service can be identified, refer such correspondence to the appropriate DRB for response or designate an appropriate activity to perform this task.

(5) Provide overall guidance and supervision to the Armed Forces Discharge Review/Correction Board Reading Room with staff augmentation, as required, by the Departments of the Navy and Air Force.

(6) Ensure that notice of the location, hours of operation, and similar types of information regarding the Reading Room is published in the Federal Register.

Wasn't Kerry an assistant D.A. somewhere in MA. between the years 1972 and 1978? If so, wouldn't he have had to claimed or checked a box on his employment application what status he had currently or type of discharge from the military?
