Hey Ivan, you live near our dear daughter who resides in North Finchley. She is married to a Brit. She has developed a Brit accent that may save her from abuse, so much so we often feel we need an interpreter.
It needs to be read aloud on American talk radio with a cover statement that it is directed to all the lefties of Hollyweird and the MSM who want so badly to go to Europe now. It shows unmistacably just what they are identifying with. Babs especially take note.
My father in law has traveled several Asian countries and spent a couple weeks in Vietnam. Was absolutely amazed with the reception he received. Like a long-lost friend arriving home, greeted with complete hospitality and open arms.
Amazing when contrasted with the US anti-war left's characterization of the military as marauding rapists and murderers.
It could be her crowd. It seems kind of artsy fartsy. The artsy-fartsy crowd here is anti-American for pete's sake.
I happen to live in Northern England, Chester to be exact, and I am getting my M.A. in Archaeology in Manchester. I came over here from New Orleans, via Texas, and can honestly say that I have been treated with nothing less than kindness and curiosity, not anti-Americanism. However, when I read the leftist newspaper headlines, I basically have no choice but to laugh! Most intelligent Limeys do as well. The people that were mean to you were just scum, and scum exists everywhere. Maybe they were "Scousers" (Liverpudlians). Dunno, but there is no excuse for that sort of behavior, and I am sorry you had to experience it. Most Brits are great. Except for my scumbag ex-pieceofcrap-boyfriend!
I lived in Taiwan for a few years (96-98) and had a few run ins. One night I was at a pub and a drunk Brit started in on a friend of mine. He started mouthing off about how Americans have no culture, class, etc... My friend responded back to him, "You are from the UK, a country who once ruled the world. At one time you had the strongest military, height of culture, strongest economy, colonies around the world, ... Now look at you. If I was from the UK I would be proud of my culture also because it is the only thing you guys have left." He shut up really fast.
Guess they've all forgotten how the "dirty Yanks" pulled their tea-sodden butts out of the fire during WW II. Should of just let Hitler flatten the whole place. Of course they can't forget that we tossed them out of the US TWICE!
