He likes this legislation because it meeans nothing to him; all his family's crimes are male on female (at least, so far as we know).

I guess Bwarney Fwrank and "Swimmer" Ted Kennedy can't party publicly tonight. ...and when is Bwarney and "Swimmer" going to tie the knot? ...after all their home state is MA.

I wish they would outlaw murder and rape and theft while they're at it!

No shiite. I never understood the "hate crimes" language.

I was raised that a crime is a crime. Why did these fools think you can compmentalize a crime... hate vs. non-hate when the result of the crime is the same... wounded, shot, murdered, raped, abducted, beat up, assaulted, robed, maimed..... Sheesh!

A very narrow minded assessment.

Nonsense. The principle that the bill was rejected on was that there should be no "special victims." Jefferson was suggesting that homosexuals be mutilated as a matter of law. Regardless of how you might feel about homosexuality, no hate-crime opponent in his/her right mind would read that portion of Jefferson's writings in public.

LOL

You miss the big picture.

If anyone was suggesting that such punishment be inflicted, then the sodomites might have a case.

"The hate crimes provision is an essential response to a serious problem which continues to plague the nation," Kennedy said in a statement.

YOU continue to plague this nation, you drunken, lying, cheating, philandering, fat, murdering piece of shit......oh yeah...if JoAnn Kopechne was still alive, she'd have comfort in her old age with the programs you've pushed for, you scumbag.

Yeah, after the re-election, we're going to have to re-visit this issue with the President. After.

You miss the big picture.

This article is not about "the big picture," it's about the rejection of so-called "hate crime" laws being broadened.

There are times when it makes sense to quote Jefferson re sodomy and its practicers, as when discussing the merits of Byron White's majority opinion in Bowers vs. Hardwick, which was overturned by the Supreme Court in Lawrence vs. Texas. This is not one of those cases.

If you are really in favor of hate crime legislation, see -

I am NOT in favor of hate-crime legislation. You should have perceived that from my first post on this thread.

Sikh Council disappointed over rejection of Hate Crime Bill

Washington, Oct 9 (PTI) The Sikh Council on Religion and Education (SCORE) has expressed disappointment over the rejection of the Hate Crime Bill in the US Congress.

"Passing this legislation was an opportunity that was lost, to send a clear and strong message that America and its people will not tolerate any hate crime," National Chairman of SCORE, Rajwant Singh, said.

"America is a country with people diverse cultural, social and religious beliefs as its citizens. Hate and violence has no place in American society based on democratic values," he said.

On October 7, the House of Republican Negotiators rejected the Senate-approved proposal to strengthen the hate crime law of the nation. The initiative to strengthen and broaden the scope of the Hate Crime Bill was seen as an important step towards protecting the victims of hate crime.

The hate crime bill called Local Law Enforcement Enhancement Act (LLEEA) proposed to bring about changes in existing provisions to expand the protection to all victims of hate crime including gay and lesbians and financial support for state and local investigations and prosecutions of hate crimes.

Senators Edward M. Kennedy and Gordan Smith co-sponsored this bill. PTI
