"I've spent time in Searcy. Nice town."

Almost heaven....Eureka Springs, in my opinion. I live in Mountain Home. Housing costs are some of the lowest in the nation....ssshhhh, don't let it get around.

No place like the Ozarks

Kerrville is a wonderful town with everything you would need in the way of stores doctors hospitals etc. Fredericksburg is kind of a tourist town with candle shops, t shirt shops and as my husband says pot puree, he means potpourri. New Braunfels and San Marcos are both nice towns with all the amenities. Uvalde is a little farther west and the country get flatter and more west Texas like but its nice. Towns like Boerne, Comfort and Bandera are small but nice and the country is beautiful. There are fabulous country subdivisions springing up all thru that part of the state. You just need to come down here, get a good realtor and look around. We will be having some great weather for the next 6 months, come on down.

Why not stay in Oregon and work to educate your neighbors on why conservative principles are good for them and their families, that is, create your own conservative majority in Oregon -- or do you really want more sunshine?

I hate to break it to ya, but the Hill Country isn't that cheap - if you're buying any real land. The school district in Boerne recently bought a couple of acres to build a new school and were quite proud that they only had to pay $20,000 per acre.

But if you're really hell-bent on the Hill Country, try a place called "Welfare, TX." Seriously, it's a real "town." Actually, it's just the Welfare Cafe - a hole in the road restaurant which is the remnant of the stagecoach stop. It also happens to be one of the best restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of eating in, and in my work, I get to some awfully nice restaurants! The land around there is gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous.

Also Kerrville, Texas is a great conservative town, located in the heart of the Texas hill country, a retirement community.

But with ALL the talk of Texas, again Williamson County is rated one of the most Republican/conservative large counties(Top 3) in all of Texas. Only in central austin, travis county do you find the liberal mecca of Texas, sadly!

Yes indeed. I have the two greatest grandbabies on earth (bet you've heard that before.) However, I've had to live in New Orleans, Washington D.C., and Albuquerque for the past thirty years and am ready to return to my rural roots. I've already promised my wife a new minivan every two years just to use to drive over to see the grandbabies if she will just go back to the farm with me. Sounds like Green Acres doesn't it? No, I was not a lawyer though. LOL!

"Not all of Austin is liberal."
You have that right BQ91!

The further you get away from the influence of a University, the more Republican it gets.
I've always liked the Pink Floyd line "We don't need no
ed-u-ca-tion."

Mckinney is another option, about 35 miles north of Dallas. Population getting close to 100,000. Newer town and lots of new homes (small lots).

Denton is west of Mckinney, but also north of dallas about 40 miles. College town with at least 2 large colleges. It is more horse country up there outside of Denton.

Both are nice towns.

Well, I'm sure your on top of it - I haven't looked too closely for a while at properties. Sort of depressing. There's two kinds of Texans - those that live in Texas and those that are going to move back someday.

I always thought Oregon was such a beautiful state. Too bad the liberals have contaminated it with their overbearing presence.

I LIVE in the most corrupt city in the country..... Los Angeles!!My lone Bush/Cheney lawn sign stands out like a lone light in a dark world of Kerry/Edwards posters.

I'm amazed your sign is still standing and hasn't been vandalized yet.

Magnolia or Tomball. Not too far from Houston, but far enough.

I don't know where to suggest. But I will say that if Kerry is elected president, I'm going to secede from the Union and form my own little 10 acre republic.
