"Who cares how much Mrs. Kerry makes. She isn't running for office. Everyone who is a Senator or President or running for it is beholden to someone financially. It's the nature of the game. Does it matter if its your wife or Wal-Mart? And do I really need to see someone's spouses tax returns to assess where they stand on an issue?"
Because, as I understand it, all presidental candidates and their wives release tax returns for years into the past. The Clintons were unusual in only releasing 7 years of returns. She has released nothing, which most likely being the poster-child of the rich paying no taxes that her husband is railing against. The really rich (like her) have tremendous financial flexibility and CAN structure matters to pay little in taxes, but showing the public how she did it would get a lot of negative play on mr-friend-of-the-common-man.
Becoming president would automatically include taking care of all their properties with Secret Service Agents that includes 5 agents per 6 hour shift 4 times a day 365 days of the year for the rest of their lives so long as they own those properties. It comes with being President, once you are elected. It requires us the taxpayers, to pay for this as well as his annual salary, as well as his retirements including the cost of living adjustments to boot, plus salaries and protection for all their real estate property, plus Secret Service Agents, and pay the bills for the rest of his life.
You got that right. Jokes on the IRS though, I don't pay federal income tax. One income, three kids, and below median salary and I get it all back.
"How is it Kerry insists the rich should be taxed more while his own family is paying a smaller percentage of their income than the average middle income taxpayer?"
Of course, by 'rich' kerry means the folks with high 6, 7 and low 8-digit net worths.
The 9's and 10's+ are essentially untitled royalty, and don't pay much in the way of taxes.
John is just a financial appendage. But yes, he is a selfish bastard. I stipulate to that. I know the Kerry type. I had an uncle in law just like him, also a liberal Dem living off his wife, my aunt, who enjoyed the luxuries, and was very well bred (Exeter and Yale), and a mean bastard, which was up close and personal when he got a bit, or more than a bit, of alcohol in him.
"Again, if the IRS needs to investigate her, get them to. Who here is in favor of more IRS agents? "
I think it is likely that her tax return is generally defensible.
I think Kerry and the boys called Bush a liar to get their toughness bona fides. I also think its gonna hurt him big time because most folks will not see him as tough but just as a nasty bastard. Whats your take?
Post debate polls: Bush +5 in NH, -5 in NJ.
Calling Bush a liar, or his ad a lie, was a big mistake. Swing voters may think Bush is rather simplistic, and not very bright, but they would be offended at the suggestion that Bush is a liar, or endorses lying ads. That suggestion is simply ludicrous. It is also a mistake, because when the word "liar" is brought up in this election, which might tend to cause one to ponder the matter of honesty, just how in hell does that help Kerry?
Gotta love NH. It's my kind of place - secular and sensible.
Kerry has a full time Secret Service detail...NOW. Because he is a candidate for President.
interesting. It would be interesting to see the 1913 guide on a pdf file.
Fatty, much of that bulk is defining just what taxable income is, and what is a capital gain, and what isn't, and when income realized is recognizable, and when it isn't. Just lashing out, about what you do not know, is poor form.
I thought it might be on the web somewhere. Why did you sign up to fr? just curious
