Isn't funny how Zell Miller is demonized by these people yet Chaffe is painted as a saint.

Yeah, well Zell Miller is a "turncoat" but John McCain is a "maverick" and Lincoln Chafee is a "moderate" (ie., not a liberal). Standard fare from the disgraced former "paper of record". Forget about it.

They must not think kerry's poll numbers are enough if they're desperate enough to run this kind of story. Plus the one that pretends to be scandalized about that Fox joke about kerry's cuticles.

"I understand the feelings that he has," Mr. Jeffords said. "I'm going to be talking to him, so I'm not going to say any more. I probably shouldn't have even told you that."

What is this... THIRD GRADE?! I've got a secret, I've got a secret!

We should trade him for Zell Miller.

I just don't believe the NYT anymore, for years we looked at it as just biased, now they are just digging. If this is what they call news they are in bigger trouble than I thought.

Better watch out Chafee. McCain's not going to take lightly to anyone trying to replace his Golden Boy status among Dems and MSM.

The NYT's is pitiful. Republicans have been nailing Chafee's liberalism for awhile now. Attempts to hurt the Prez are not going to succeed with these types.

Let me see, Chafee wanted to the President to back off on Tax cuts, Missle Defense and Kyoto? I mean, that is like the big 3 reasons to be a Republican (along with 2nd amendment, smaller government and right to life). I can't believe the VP didn't listen to this spineless wimp.
God, I hate nepotism.

Look, this guy might be somewhat outside of the Republican standard, but at least he doesn't play pretend.

I'd trade in Specter over Chafee any day...believe me, Chafee isn't even the worst RINO.

15 years ago I would have been outraged, but it's now established that OM is simply a wing of the Dem Party and I can point this out to Dems when arguing with them.

I glanced at the front page of today's Phila. Inquirer for the first time in about three months. They were making a big issue of U.S. casualties in Iraq.

From the post -" "Mr. Bush's promise to be "a uniter, not a divider" - "

I am reminded of the saying - You can lead a horse to water but -

What does he want President Bush to do - go to the appeasement mode - ?

Everyone seems to have a game plan and we certainly are seeing plenty of them being played -

I don't think the key word is Republican - I think liberal/socialist playing like Republican is the key - and exposing all of them fast would be great.

The party might actually get something good done for this nation if that happened -

just my thoughts -

"...sending Mr. Chafee on a painful journey of political conscience..."

Next line as they think it SHOULD read:

...in stark contrast to the descent to hell taken by the traitorous Zell Miller..."

His misgivings about his party's conservative tilt have thrust him into a powerful position in Washington

Exactly. He's a nothing senator, who is only getting attention because he's against Bush. If, heaven forbid, Bush loses, he'll go back to being a nothing senator with no attention paid to him.

Sorry--it would not be a square trade. Zell is worth 10 Chaffees.

"I literally was close to falling off my chair," Mr. Chafee said, recounting the vice president's proposals for steep tax cuts, missile defense programs and abandoning the Kyoto environmental accords.

Funny how he, like John Kerry, voted against Kyoto in the Senate, but all of a sudden consider it an important priority since Bush got into office.
