great column
Great line!
Mark Steyn says "Hands Off Me, Buster!" That's the attitude in America and long after the rest of the world is gone, America will remain as the last outpost of freedom. We have stood athwart history and yelled "Stop!" To the extent liberal culture in America is growing ever more enfeebled by the year, it testifies to conservatism's success and resiliency. Our ultimate goal should be to see the state wither away. Karl Marx was right in that man should need it as seldom as possible - its just that its not the Left that believes in a utopia free of nannyish busybodyness. Small government will thwart threats to a free society more effectively than anything big government could do. We may or may not get it but its an ideal worth striving towards.
That, and the case of Amazon, although, he greatly understates the Amazon investment to obtain that result. But, it is an object lesson.
My feelings exactly, but I laughed so hard at that paragraph it didn't matter :-).
On the other hand, maybe he still has a point. Is Amazon's budget much compared to the INS's?

Hey-- if Amazon is that good-- maybe Walmart should take over the DOD.
I don't think so; Wal-Mart wins by selling lousy stuff cheaper than anyone else. So if you want lousy cheap stuff, you go there.
I don't think that's a good philosophy for the military.
Target might be a better choice. Most of their stuff's decent and yet inexpensive.
