CBS Does It Again Network Uses Phony Documents to Promote Draft Conspiracy September 29, 2004 09:03:12 EDT

For months now, left-leaning interest groups have been trying to scare America's young people into believing that the Bush Administration is eager to bring back the draft if President Bush is reelected. For the most part, this story has been spread by word-of-mouth and through the internet--rumors in other words. Up until this month, CBS News has shown no interest in a story that has basically no basis in fact. That changed last week after Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry was asked about the rumors. He seemed to give them little credence, but refused to outright disown them, saying only "Is it possible? I can't tell you."

Once again, it seems that the Democratic Party has proven itself more intelligent than its media arm, CBS. Just as it earlier refused to run with Bill Burkett's third-rate forgeries, the Democrats have mostly stayed away from draft speculation. But last night, CBS News once again let its ideological blinders cause it massive embarrassment.

You'd think that in the midst of the terrible publicity he is getting for working closely with a partisan Democrat--bent on bringing down President Bush--that Dan Rather would have the good sense to lay off the liberal bias for a while, especially since just three weeks ago, the 72-year-old CBSer denounced the internet as "filled with rumors."

In a story (click here for video) that was a textbook example of shoddy and biased reporting, CBS reporter Richard Schlesinger used:

Debunked internet hoax emails Michael Moore-esque editing An unlabeled interest group member to scare elderly "Evening" viewers into believing that the U.S. government is poised to resume the draft.

Is this the same C-BS that lied, skip edited, and deliberately cut and pasted quotes out of order in a documentary called The Pentagon Papers?

I never knew they did that until yesterday. They've never apologized or retracted. That was over 20 years ago, and I've lived under a false impression of our Pentagon because of it.

Is this the same C-BS that interviewed outright imposter-Veterans of Vietnam and produced a documentary that they still link to and put forth as truth? Even after all has been proved a lie? How many vets have suffered from this?

You mean, this same C-BS that called Florida for Gore in 2000 and started all of the meanness and animosity that we now suffer from? The broadcasting company that for years has covered elections and suddenly forgot that Florida has two time zones?

The same broadcasting brotherhood that forged documents when, after 5 years it couldn't prove a pet theory about our President? In a time of war?

Huh. I'm not surprised. They've been lying and cheating for years. Even a mindless skull full of mush in High School can understand disingenuous self-interest posing as expert analysis.

I never knew the MSM were communist collaborators and
outright deliberate liars until the Internet.
Sorry but I am still shocked by all of this.
Sounds like something Pravda or a third world dictator run media
would do. But in the U.S.A.???
