I couldn't find this excellent piece by Wayne anywhere on the Net. But, that's what scanners and OCR software are for! Please FReepermail if you spot any HTML or OCR errors and I'll fix 'em.

This thread has just added to the FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".
Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it.

For all those who voiced strong determination that they would throw the President to the dogs if the AWB was renewed, I hope they show the same vigor in now talking up the president, and indeed casting a vote for him in November.

"the NRA struggled to pass instead the instant criminal background check system (NICS)-- which is now used across the U.S." Just a lovers spat between gun grabbers. The NRA remains ever ready to compromise away our inalienable RKBA.

The POTUS doesn't ratify treaties. That's the job of the Senate.

Thanks.
I decided to give our scanner's OCR software a whirl. It did a pretty good job. It dumped the output into Word and kept a lot of the formatting intact. It even did a fair job of retaining some inset text boxes with excerpts from the main article. (Though I got rid of those for the HTML version; too cluttered for a web page.)
There's another good article in the same magazine by Wayne and Chris Cox called "Concealed Kerry". It's about Kerry the "hunter". I may scan that one next... assuming someone else doesn't do the job before I get to it!

Your choice was between an instant check and a fixed waiting period. Note that "none of the above" wasn't a choice. Stamping your feet and shouting "No! No! No!" would have gotten us all a waiting period.

Just a lovers spat between gun grabbers. The NRA remains ever ready to compromise away our inalienable RKBA. When so many other folks ignore what was thought to be the plain language of the Second Amendment, and laws that forbid convicted felons from firearm posession were in effect, should the NRA have accepted idiotic waiting periods as opposed to God knows how long waiting periods versus the NICS? As long as laws barring felons from firearms posession are on the books, not to mention more dubious categories, the NICS system appears more just than arbitrary waiting periods determined by popular, but ignorant legislatures. We usually agree. Tell me where I got the politics wrong.

But I saw a picture of Kerry out hunting birds with a shotgun, so I know he's for gun rights.

Thanks for the ping Joe. (Nice tagline btw)
I've concluded that the 2nd ammendment expressly prevents the feds (all of them- courts, legislature, executive) from infringing on the people's right to keep and bear arms and that those who betray it are at least failing to uphold a sworn oath, and at most, traitors.
As so well illustrated above, Kerry has failed his oath to "protect and defend" the Constitution of the United States (as have/do many of his cohorts)and for this reason, is Unfit For Command.
