Good grief, I can't for the life of me imagine why either of these candidates wants to be President.

North Korea just pumped up little Tojo...and it ain't going to be pretty. I'll bet that the US is handing all the technology relation to nukes to Japan that it requests. They will have nuclear weapons by 2008...and nobody...not even the UN....will stop them. The UN screwed up big-time by not taking action in Iran or North Korea. And they will have pay for a major problem by the end of this decade. And this time...France and Germany can't blame the US.

What happens to the costal realestate prices during these threats? Is there a way to make money of all that paranoia? Just thinking as a selfish bastard.

There are other methods in the meantime. More UN pressure, Soviet and Chinese pressure and that of others still can be leveled at them. But I do not believe we wouldn't attack such an idiot. We just need our ducks in a row, though, and it would be one of the last options. But if they insist upon blackmailing us, I want us to send a message that is profoundly heard.

I'm glad for the construction of the ABM base in Alaska.

Madam HalfBright might disagree with you. Didn't she prevent NK from getting nukes, or something like that.

Japan clearly has the technology to build nukes. But I think it best that given the history of Japan, we defend them instead. Japan may not sit still for this. Their feud with NK and the Chinese goes back awhile.

Little iL must've gotten some bad porn...but I heard he had 13 hole in ones, a Dble Egl, an egl and a birdie today on the NK PGA course...he's the best ever at everything, so he says.

They're always playing games.

The problem is, Kim is mentally ill.

If he were sane, I'd say all he wants is to maintain the status quo. But when you're dealing with a nut, you never know.

Some weeks back we let it be known that we'd built the world's biggest bomb, some 30,000 lbs. This would bore into the ground and take out the thickest bunker, etc.. We were talking to someone or several someones.

I'd agree. Powell, in particular, seems to have undergone a trial by fire and lost a bit of his belief in the innate goodness of Liberals.(See the UN, France, and what they did to him before we invaded Iraq, for instance.) He's very involved in trying to stop the ongoing horror of Sudan. I get the feeling that he's depressed, worried, and wants to do something positive for Africa (long ignored), before leaving the admin.. Cheney never wore rose colored glasses about the world and what goes on. He's an old cold war warrior and knows what has to be done each and every day to keep us free.

They're already debating some form of change to their defense system in Japan. One legislator collapsed at the podium in the midst of a speech...high blood pressure. They're taking NK's threat very seriously.

I would have to agree with you on your remarks...

The sad part is the U.S. cant police the whole world by itself. It is like all these countries rely on just a few to handle all there problems, while others like France sets back and does nothing...
We could solve all the problems in the Mid-East just by not buying the oil..let them sell sand...and we dont need there oil...

There are some things that the USA can't do. Attacking a Nuclear-Armed Adversary is one of them.

It's not a question of "can't". Of course we can. We have enough to turn NK into a glass parking lot.

What you're saying is that we don't have the stomache to confront the possible consequences. You may be right on that.

However, it may come down to a situation where we will eventually be hit by a nuke made in NK, whether by missile or smuggled in by AlQueda, so we might as well do something about it now

Not if we have space-based energy weapons in orbit already.

We don't even need them on NK. We already publicly have high-precision conventional bombs and missiles, including precision bunker-busters.

As far as dealing with NK's massed, bunkered artillery, what we need is a set of platforms that can loft several thousand precision munitions into range of the NK's artillery emplacements, and ripple-fire them very rapidly. This could be done with a moderate-size fleet of stealthy blimps

But I thought Jimmy Carter said the North Koreans had promised him they wouldn't make nuclear weapons.
