So you have a choice between throwing millions of dollars around, hoping to hit a few white swing voters, or you could spend a fraction of that on black radio and steal votes directly from the Democrats' base.

Dude - what else do you want the GOP to do?

We oppose the murder of the unborn child in the womb [which, statistically, has taken a devastating toll on the American "Black" community over the last thirty years], and what do we get? Zilch. [In fact, if you read the quote above, you'll learn that all the "credit" goes to the party that actually supports, condones, and urges the murder of these children.]

We put Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court. Zilch.

We run Jack "Urban Enterprise Zones" Kemp as the VP in 1996. Zilch.

We endorse tax-vouchers for private schools and actually get them enacted in places like Milwaukee, WI. Zilch.

We place Colin Powell & Condoleezza Rice in the two most powerful positions ever occupied [in the entire history of the species] by persons with that much pigment in their skins, and what do we get? Zilch.

Look, it's fun to fantasize about some future socio-moral renaissance in the "pigmented" community, but the numbers just don't bear it out.

Against Gore Bush commanded just 17 percent of the Jewish vote in 2000. Based on his unending support for Israel, however, Bush re-election planners are shooting for 30 percent.

Bush campaign manager Ken Mehlman said Jewish voters, only 19 percent of whom supported Mr. Bush in 2000, now know the president as a strong leader on the war on terror, a topic of importance in their community, who has the moral clarity to stay the course.

So it's either 17 or 19, and that against a Jewish ticket! which is not "single digits". Why don't you go back and check the rest of the "facts". Why is it that people put out BS and say "prove me wrong" -- hey, you know what, if you're gonna make a bunch of questionable claims, provide your own evidence or prepare to be dismissed as full of it.

That figure of "17 or 19" percent sounds WAY high to me [I'd divide by two, and guess more like 8.5%-9.5%]. But for the sake of argument, let's assume you're correct.

Consider first this article:

Bush fails to raise Jewish support
Thursday, September 23, 2004

George Bush has failed to win over any of the traditional Jewish backing for the Democrats, despite the unwavering White House support for Israel and a vigorous campaign by the Republican party.

In a poll released yesterday by the American Jewish Committee, Jewish voters preferred John Kerry to Mr Bush by a margin of nearly three to one: 69% to 24%.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uselections2004/story/0,13918,1310809,00.html

Now I don't see how any one family can do more to preserve the Jewish race than what the Bush family has done over the last fifteen years: In 1991, Bush 41 defended Israel from Saddam Hussein and smashed his army into little bits. Then, in his first term, Bush 43 finished off both Hussein and the Taliban, and has all but stated that he will do the same to Iran [and its nuclear ambitions] in his second term.

So what does this get the GOP in the way of gratitude from "Jewish" voters? Well, if your figure of 19% in 2000 is to be believed, and the AJC's figure of 24% in 2004 is to be believed, it got us 5 points at the polls. And maybe a couple of washed-up old has-beens, like Ed Koch, and Ron Silver, to speak at the convention. Meanwhile, ol' Babs Streisand goes right on raising funds for the same crowd that would sell her people to Yasser Arafat in the blink of an eye, just like they did the last time they got the chance.

Of course, the problem here is with the term "Jewish." Consider next the following article:

Jewish survey shows affiliations
September 24, 2004

A poll of American Jews shows 51 percent report membership in a synagogue but only 14 percent consider "religious observance" the most important factor in their Jewish identity, less than those who stressed social justice or simply being "part of the Jewish people."

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chicago/chi-0409240237sep24,1,7898752.story

I submit to you that the vast, overwhelming majority of people that we call "Jewish" are in fact atheists, and are descended from atheists for several generations now. Indeed, I'd guess that there's almost a perfect 1-1 correspondence between your "17%" of "Jews" who voted for Bush, and the Chicago Tribune's "14 percent" who actually believe that God exists and has some non-trivial expectations from His chosen people.

But the rest of them are full-fledged members of our socialist/hedonist/narcissist/materialist cultural elite, and don't give a damn about silly little abstractions like the rule of law, Republican society, or opposition to tyranny. To the contrary, they embrace tyrannical forms of government with open arms.

[And given the sorry performance of the New Square Chasidim in the 2000 election, I don't know how much faith I'd put in the so-called "religious" Jews, either, but that's a whole 'other topic...]

Anyway, while we're talking religion and voting patterns, you might do well to consider the saga of the American Muslim [and one Grover Norquist]:

The Natural Conservatives
Muslims deliver for the GOP
by Grover Norquist
June, 2001

George W. Bush was elected President of the United States of America because of the Muslim vote.

The what?

That's right, the Muslim vote. There are roughly six million Muslim-Americans. Hard data on their voting habits is surprisingly hard to come by, because national polling groups do not yet include "Muslim" as a full-fledged religious category (Protestant, Catholic, Jew, and "other'). But according to surveys by national Muslim groups, Bush won more than 70 percent of Muslims who voted. In Florida, that totaled 55,000 people, who, according to an exit poll by the Tampa Bay Islamic Center, favored Bush over Gore by 20 to 1. According to this exit poll, Bush got 88 percent of the vote to Gore's four percent, with eight percent voting for Nadar. The margin of victory for Bush over Gore in the Muslim vote was 46,200, many times greater than his statewide margin of victory. The Muslim vote won Florida for Bush.

Now fast forward three years [past a little date called "9-11-2001" on your calendar]:
No backing for Bush among U.S. Muslims
September 24, 2004

Today the president of the Islamic Center of Long Island said he feels betrayed by the post-Sept. 11 Republican administration and will vote for anyone but Bush. "No one feels safe anymore," said Khan. "To see a prominent Muslim educator like Yusuf Islam [formerly known as pop singer Cat Stevens] prevented from entering the country, says to all the moderate Muslims, 'You're all the same to us.'"

Khan is not alone in his view. American Muslims will vote overwhelmingly against Bush, largely as a result of anxiety over the erosion of civil liberties and the direction of the war on terror, according to a new poll conducted by Zogby International for Georgetown University's Muslims in the American Public Square (Project MAPS).

By 76 percent to 7 percent, Muslims leaned toward the Democrat ticket in the poll conducted between August and September, which had a 2.4 percent margin of error, said Zahid Bukhari, director of Project MAPS.

Norquist Buying in Bulk (Norquist to marry Samah Alrayyes)
September 23, 2004

Attention all prospective Republican lobbyists: K Street kingmaker Grover Norquist has announced his wedding date, so you’ll know when to send gifts. Problem is, the location and the gift registry are still up in the air.

Norquist, 47, will exchange vows with 31-year-old Samah Alrayyes of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) on Saturday, April 2, 2005, he has revealed, although he told The Hill last week that he promised his bride-to-be the wedding will not turn into a political event.

So now that we've undertaken the fight to defend the world from Islamic tyranny, guess what? The Muslims hate us too [and ol' Norquist up and marries one of 'em].

So: The Jews won't vote for us, the Muslims won't vote for us, the Blacks won't vote for us, the Mexicans won't vote for us...

After a while, you start to wonder wheter there's anyone left on the face of the earth who believes in freedom, or who is willing to oppose tyranny. And you realize that the answer is: Precious few.

I mean, how many allies do we have in the world today? England? Australia? Italy? Poland & Bulgaria? Japan & Taiwan?

That's about it, folks. France, Germany, and Spain hate us. The South Koreans hate us. Israel is supposed to be our ally, but see above. All the Muslims hate us. The Filipinos hate us. The peoples of the Indian subcontinent are many and varied, but from what I've seen of them [and I work very closely - even intimately - with them, on a daily basis], there is plenty of room for concern as far as they're concerned. And now our Chinese and Korean and Vietnamese youngsters are going off to our marxist university system to be indoctrinated and inculcated in hatred of us.

Like I said when I started this thread, the whole subject can be very depressing if you think about it too much.

POSTSCRIPT: I've railed away at "Blacks" and "Mexicans" a fair amount in this thread, but I suppose that I should note that they do seem to be willing to serve in the armed forces [which is a lot more than can be said for some of these other "minority" groups]. Whether they will learn anything during their service that will translate into some future respect for the rule of law, or for Republican forms of government, or into some sense that tyranny must be opposed, well, only time will tell.

Well, today we get a little news that isn't quite so depressing:
The real good news in the new Gallup poll is the big movement of Blacks to Bush and away from Kerry.
