what's truly disheartening is the lack of Americans on the Nion team

They seem to be all European refugees from socialism. They're now as red blooded American as anyone, and America is all the richer for it.

But it's a sad testimony to what fields of study native born Americans are flocking to. The problem, as I see it, is that most Americans are scared to death of doing anything that requires optimum brain power.

10 Angstroms! If you started looking at a tiny 1 mm sample and doubled the zoom every second, it would take over 30 seconds before you got down to 10 Angstroms.

Two hydrogen atoms walk into a bar...first one says, "Oh no, I've lost my electron!" Second one says, "Are you sure?" First one says, "Yes, I'm positive!"

Thank you...tip your lab assistant...I'm here all week, according to quantum mechanics.

>>>Go to the web site: http://nion.com/. You'll find the images there.<<<

I went there but could only find a somewhat magnified image of the fabric in my Dockers pants.

The Seattle Area is prized for its temperate climate, recently made drier by global climate changes, rich cultural life, easily accessible outdoors, good national and international access from the Seattle-Tacoma airport, and surprisingly affordable housing.
<snicker>, yeah riiiight!

Well, I'm sure they know their physics.

You snicker, your perogative. As all non-scientists do, you look at the wrong parameters. Global warming has always happened throughout the history of the Earth. It happens because of activity, whether it's dinosaurs pooping, volcanoes blowing up, or man converting hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide it happens. The parameter you should be checking is not the air temperatures, but the sea temperatures. Here, let me help:

These temperatures are the reason why we've had such an active hurricane season, it's the reason why Karl is forecast to remain a Tropical Storm until it hits Iceland and it's the reason why ice is calving at such a rapid pace at the polls.

One can either accept this data or stick one's head in the sand, one's choice. One final thought, I wouldn't worry about the Earth, it's been around for about 5 billion years, I personally worry about the human race, which is pretty much hell bent on destroying itself.
