"Who told CBS/DNC that Burkett had the documents?"
The latest story from Cleland is that he gave Burkett's number to the Kerry campaign. Who knows as yet, since they are all scrambling like cockroaches in a harsh light.

If they realized they were fake, why didn't they warn Dan Rather? I understand his producer contacted Lockhart before they went with the story.

IF the DNC had the documents and knew they were fakes, then how come Terry McAuliffe came out right after the 60 Minutes show and said they were genuine?

they didn't use them because they realized that the documents were probably fake They sure didn't have any hesitation about using them after CBS did.

ITS OVER, FOLKS. If the DNC's fingerprints are on them, you can only imagine the depth of the Kerry Campaign's involvement. How can President Bush debate someone now complicit in a forgery mounted to drive him out of office? The debates really don't matter a hoot right now. Pat Caddell warned the Democrats about this and you can write finit to the 2004 Election as of today. All the rest is fallout stuff.

So, let's see now.
The DNC had the memos before CBS, and knew they were fake. On the basis of these fake memos, they prepared the "Fortunate Son" campaign, complete with coordinated talking points and video. They sent Harkin and Edwards out to demand the President respond to the charges in the fake memos. McAwful said the documents were authentic, that they backed CBS, and also demanded a full accounting from the President.
On nothing more than the basis of this utterly preposterous sequence of coincidences, it is transparently obvious that at a minimum the DNC and CBS coordinated an attack on the President.
To any of my fellow Freepers who are JAG:
Have CBS and the DNC falsely accused the President and/or others of a criminal conspiracy and UCMJ violation based on forged Federal documents? If so, are there heads to be had?

Every time I see or hear of Tony Coelho, it reminds me of the song "I Eat Cannibals," the double-entendre laden novelty song of the '80s recorded by one-hit wonder British girl group Total Coelo.
Total Coelo was sort of the prototype for the much more successful group some ten years hence, the Spice Girls. Couldn't sing all that well, but really hot.

The truth of the matter is that the Dems would not touch these document because of the obvious falsity but they could rely on CBS as their lapdog to go full steam ahead and they would not be implicated in the fraud. Fortunately, not the way it is working out.

This stuff is starting to filter out because they know that the Bush people know, and they want to control the release of the information. There is so much spinning goin' on ow day-a, I'm dizzier than Oprah with a ham in each hand.

Tony Coelho admitted on Hardball tonight that the DNC had the memos before CBS but that they didn't use them because they realized that the documents were probably fake.Knowing they were "probably fake" sure didn't stop the DNC from using the footage in their ad...
Nor did it stop Harkin and the DNC from trumpeting them for their own version of the "truth."

So the DNC kept their mouths shut after the Sixty Minutes II episode...
hoping the fraud wouldn't be spotted?
And that the slander might get traction?

I believe he said that Burkett came to the DNC back in 2000 with someting similar. I dont think he ever said documents. The point was that the DNC/Gore campaign wasnt stupid enough to do anything with the information that Burkett gave them. Could be / Might be / but I think youve overstated it.
