"Lockhart said Mapes asked him the weekend before the story broke to call Burkett. "She basically said there's a guy who is being helpful on the story who wants to talk to you," Lockhart said, adding that it was common knowledge that CBS was working on a story raising questions about Bush's Guard service. Mapes told him there were some records "that might move the story forward. She didn't tell me what they said."
God I can hardly wait to hear the ending........

Paging Dan Rather! Yoo-Hoo? Dan Rather, your dot is right here
This thread deserves a morning bump.
>>Are there any Freepers out there with connections at a TV station that ran the Dems ad? We need a hard date on when they received the spot with the Rathergate material in it.<<<
I made a phone call to the DNC yesterday, and they said that all of their campaign material is produced internally..the woman was very short in her answers and very specific, as if reading from a cue card. Now I've worked on campaign commercials before, and you have to keep very detailed and exact records of production dates per FEC regulations so there can be an accurate and traceable money trail. I think these records fall under the Freedom of Information act, but I might be wrong, but even so the FEC needs to look into this pronto.
I don't think the DNC would have invested tens of thousands of dollars on a video online suite, so I have a very hard time believing it was all produced internally. The spot first appeared on the DNC website before it aired on TV, so the focus should probably be there, but I don't have the time or resources to pursue this...I wish I did. I asked the DNC woman (who would't give her name BTW) who the voice-over talent was on "Fortunate Son" and she forwarded me to another extension that just rang for 10 minutes before I hung up. If he is a union (SAG or AFTRA) VO talent, which he probably is because this is the DNC, his paymaster records will reflect the exact date of the session. I called SAG and AFTRA and they will not answer any questions because I am not a member. If there are any computer geeks out there I have a question: does Windows Media Player or Real Player imprint a date in the code of the original creation/compression date? If so maybe they could go to the DNC site and examine the code from their streaming version of "Fortunate Son"
Somebody with media connections needs to ask the DNC to release all production dates of "Fortunate Son", especially the video conform and online date. That is a key to breaking this.
After further review, the junior Senator from Massachusetts determined that he already had representatives in Iraq.
When is this character taking over as a CNN host?
