The only problem is that most of the media is complicit and has been for most of the last century.

It really seems now that the most sensational, lurid, and damningly partisan theory for the provenance of the forgeries is the correct one: they originated with a lunatic in Texas, but they came to Rather from the DNC and John Kerry is directly involved.
Revealing this now would destroy whatever slight chance Kerry still has of a comeback, and possibly lead to the first pre-election withdrawal by a major party Presidential candidate in American history.
Rather and CBS do not want to go down in history for this. Not only would their fellow lefties curse them to the dying breath of liberalism, but they would become a laughingstock till the end of time. A thousand years from now, "rather" might be a common lower-case noun for a pompous incompetent who misses some obvious flaw in his plans.

Or as the New York Times' headline put it: ''Memos On Bush Are Fake But Accurate.''Did they really write that?

The only reasonable conclusion is that the source -- or trail of sources -- is even more incriminating than the fake documents. Why else would Heyward and Rather allow the CBS news division to commit slow, public suicide?
I think that you hit the nail on the head with this one.

So why aren't they? The only reasonable conclusion is that the source -- or trail of sources -- is even more incriminating than the fake documents. Why else would Heyward and Rather allow the CBS news division to commit slow, public suicide? It's either a Kerry connection they are protecting or, God forbid, could Dan's daughter be involved?

This is just too much! I guess the icing would be if it were all master orchestrated by Clinton, who conveniently had heart surgery AND told Kerry to lay off Vietnam. But, if only Kerry's fingerprints are on this, I'll happily take that.

Why else would Heyward and Rather allow the CBS news division to commit slow, public suicide? I've long thought that Dan has something on CBS because he should have been fired years ago. He took a top rated news show and rode it down to the bottom, where it stayed, that alone should have cost him. His other shenanigans were more examples of Ratherfirstism.

As for Heyward and Rather, the other day I came across a rare memo from April 20, 1653, typed on a 17th century prototype of the IBM Selectric. It's Oliver Cromwell's words to England's Long Parliament: ''You have sat too long for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!''
Delicious stuff, indeed!

This is, by far, the best post-mortem article I have had the pleasure,
and I do mean pleasure to read on ... "The Docs Are Crocks".
Many thanks

CBS and all the MSM have been running successful propaganda and disinfo ops against America
relatively unchallenged for so long...they have become lazy as well as arrogant....
They expect the sheep to suck up all the screed and LIKE IT.....
The screed got spit out and the sheep are unplugging from the main stream Matrix...
Agents Smith and Rather are throwing conniption fits....blustering threatening and throwing out even more lies...and then when that fails....
Pull the ole Clintonista double whammie.....
Claim to be victims of the very deceiver whose lies they have been promoting...
while crying about how 'innocent' they are...
"Please don't flush us...let us keep lying to you ..and you keep paying us for it"...should be their cry....
McCarthy was right...
imo

"A thousand years from now, "rather" might be a common lower-case noun for a pompous incompetent who misses some obvious flaw in his plans."
Sooner than that the verb "rathered" will apply to fraudulant representations of past events.
Example:
Kerry rathered his Vietnam war record.

It's either a Kerry connection they are protecting or, God forbid, could Dan's daughter be involved?
The CBS source could be Ben Barnes. He was one of the people interviewed.
CBS source possibilities:
1. Burkett
2. Ben Barnes
3. Dan Rather's daughter
4. Max Cleland
Burkett looks like the one most likely to have helped in writing it. He does say "we reassembled", so that means more people are involved. However I don't think he would have been the person who sent the memos to CBS, at least not without the go ahead from the Kerry Campaign.
from link...
"I spent some time on the phone with the Kerry campaign seniors yesterday," Mr. Burkett wrote on Aug. 21 in an e-mail letter circulated to a list of about 600 Texas Democrats.
He complained that he had to "get through seven layers of bureaucratic kids trying to get a job after the election."
"I talked with Max Cleland," Mr. Burkett continued, referring to the former senator from Georgia who has been supporting Senator John Kerry's Democratic presidential bid.
Alluding to advertisements by a veterans group that deprecates Mr. Kerry's Vietnam service, Mr. Burkett continued, "I asked if they wanted to counterattack or ride this to ground and outlast it, not spending any money. He said counterattack."
"So I gave them the information to do it with," Mr. Burkett wrote. "But none of them have called me back."

Just as Watergate led not only to CReEP but to the FBI and CIA, Rathergate leads no doubt to the DNC, the Kerry campaign and CBS and Viacom top management with tentacles into other media corporations. I followed Watergate very closely back then, from McCords piece of tape until the wave good bye by Nixon. Remember the break-in was in the summer, and it wasn't until much later AFTER the election that it all started to unravel.
I think the same thing just may happen this time. There are most likely dozens of co-conspirators and liars involved in this Forgery/CBS/DNC/Texas/Fraud.
And with FreeRepublic ( "a bastion of right-wing lunacy", a bunch of "partisan political operatives" in pajamas) and the other web folks, the unraveling this time may be intense and fruitful!
We'll see.

Quite an interesting image you've got there. The info blurbs are a nice touch. Good job.
Cleland was at the very least a willing conduit for the docs. A very damning circumstantial case is building and yet these revelations are buried deep inside the MSM stories. Imagine what the MSM coverage would be if the campaign situations were reversed and, say, Bob Dole was similarly linked with a shady character who was passing on phony documents.
