We thought she was on the emergency plane out of there this evening/afternoon,

BUT,
we have not heard a thing for 6 hours now.

Once the power in Georgetown is restored, the roaming thugs will be forced to limit their reign of terror. Right now, it is pitch black and they love the cover of darkness.

Shouldn't say what I think they should do to them.

That eye wall is coming right at me now!

Hope I don't lose my big white oaks. (Will this never end?)

Good luck with the rain.
I remember when Camille went through Virginia, I think the floods there killed more people than the hurricane did in Mississippi.

Yes, I've seen them. Sure, they are our first concern.
Although I imagine a few troops in Cayman wouldn't hurt our efforts to help our own much.

I was living in South Dade County when Hurricane Andrew, cat 5, came through, was in our house with wife and children that night, we were in the eye wall as the storm went by, so I am well familiar with what goes on before, during and after a hurricane and the devastation they create, and how long it takes for a community to recover.

To tell you the truth, I have just about had it with this hurricane season, ever since Andrew, the things make me kind of jumpy.

We have the resources to take care of our own,
and for that I am grateful. It would be awful
if we were like little Caribbean islands.

I remember when POOR Bangladesh sent us aid of some sort.

Yes it does sound that way. We'll send help. Within the next 24 hours I expect to hear about the big beautiful planes (C-17s, I think) at the Charleston Air Base being loaded with goods and water and etc - all donated goods by the citizens of Charleston and the Tri-county area going to all different parts of the country.

We have crews of firemen, policemen, electric company personnel and etc., disbursed to other parts of the south that have been hit hard.

Believe it was in the Richmond area, a real disaster.

The rain hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be, it's the wind that has me the most concerned.

I hope they can restore order there very soon, it's hard enough living in a devastated area without also having to contend with roving gangs.

Yes, it makes sense that Cayman has the resources to fix things up, now you mention it.

I really wish that you hear soon from your family.

Cyborg, I was talking about other countries who demand out help, money and personnel but never come to our aid, never return the kindness...

My point...more precise.

I live in Nashville....approximately 1.5M metro pop.

The white underclass youth here have melded almost completely with the black underclass youth in all manners...dress, ebonics, ass exposed droopy jeans, menacing attitudes, crime, fatherless children etc.

I consider that to be an abysmal failure of our colorblind diversity appreciative society.

As for rural white rednecks of lore, I cannot speak with authority on that. I have never lived in rural America nor have I had the misfortune (or bad luck) to be a member of the underclass.

I assume Nashville is not alone with this menace though I have had folks...including Yankees for Gawdsakes...proclaim they have never seen so many racially confused white boyz as here.

So much for the sterotype of the poor white redneck who hates blacks....these peckerwoods ARE black for all intensive purposes....sadly they have not chosen the more desirable aspects of black culture to mimic.

Also if confronted, they will defend themselves as though their adopted thuggery is some sort of altruistic appreciation of "da black man".....it defies rational definition.

At least here in Music City.

The weather man said that they expect it to stall and then turn southeast.

Hope that don't take those Oaks Aqua.

In that context you're right. There are countries who do that. US has an abundance of resources of its own. I can't recall the US ever asking for help on the outside though.

thank you....i'm sorry to go on about my lapsed peckerwood ex-brethren.

that slight dust-up the other nite has me in a foul mood about them and anything that reeks of droopy jeans and gold and diamond encrusted dental fashion.

and the next time a white boy says to me that "kinfolk, you be a racist ni$$a"....when I question why they wish to voluntarily dive into the ghetto headfirst....I'm gonna call the Morris Dees and complain about the hate speech directed at me.

...but if he's alone (oh I get all smiley just thinking about that)...his grille is mine...lol

sadly, they live for the wolf pack sucker punch....patience.

Was so hoping that it would keep going north before it stalled, really wanted to get that eye wall past here.

Am suffering from hurricane fatigue and they're still coming. Better turn in and try to get some rest.

As long as this trend is around might as well cash in on the action!
