Getting back on topic. There are many many threads about the 60 Minutes show. This one is to find out how many are not showing it.

Presumably they need time to vet it before putting it on the air.

Keep threatening the affiliates and sponsers until they decide to report the truth. We're on the side of justice. :) That's how it works....

"You guys are so lucky. The LA affiliate will probably show it replete with ruffles and flourishes."

Shoot they'll probably buy her a 'star' on Hollywood Blvd.!

I agree, freepers need to let Drudge know that affiliates are dropping the show like hot potatoes. He will post, I am sure.

Dan does look a little like Moe, but he's not as smart.

FWIW, here in beautiful Aiken, SC the CBS affiliate out of Augusta, GA, WRDW, is running the "Last Flight Out" movie. And looking forward to next week, they'll be running a "Dr. Phil" special. Gee, I wonder if 60 Minutes will ever be back on?

Perfect....great suggestion.

I liked the idea, but since my local affiliate is not owned by Viacom, it wouldn't put any pressure on CBS and Viacom to protest its license. Fortunately due to the internet and Free Republic, I can share my idea with like mineded people who do live in the broadcast areas of Viacom owned CBS stations. I am compiling a list of those stations, and will get information from the FCC about when those stations licenses come up for renewal. According to the letter sent to Viacom stockholders in April 2004, Viacom owns 39 stations. Twenty of them are CBS stations, 18 UPN, and one "independent".

Viacom TV Stations Group, the No. 1 stations group in the country (reaching more homes than any of its competitors), is comprised of 39 owned-and-operated stations, including 20 CBS, 18 UPN and one independent station. In 2003, the group improved ratings and market share as they continued to invest in entertainment and news programming, and benefited from the strong ratings performance of the CBS Network and improvements at UPN. In fact, 11 CBS stations generated double-digit growth in Late News and almost every UPN station posted double-digit gains in primetime.

I propose that Freepers send letters, emails, and phone calls to all the Viacom owned CBS stations stating that they will testify to the FCC that Viacom's license to their local CBS stations should be not renewed.

Thanks to Parthalan and his wonderful wife for getting the mama in tune with FR! Now that the Knoxville affiliate has apparently listened to us, shall I email back to them applauding their action?

The question is, can Gunga Dan outsmart the folks who watched 60 Min. tonight?
