CBS is trying to do the impossible. They are trying to satisfy their critics in the MSM such as the Washington Post while Dan, 60 Minutes, and the news division saves some face. The problem is there is no face saving solutions for explaining a crime like forgery. If I were the forger, I'd make sure my life insurance was paid up and do a GOOGLE on Arkancide.

Exactly how will CBS make this announcement? TV, radio?
A memo perhaps?

I wouldn't be surprised if they said that they never claimed the documents were real, but instead they were "recreations" or "dramatic presentations" based on actual testimony.

I have a theory.
The theory is this: CBS honchos are monitoring this site and what is being said in an effort to find something that floats and thus far they can't find an argument that can't be taken down.

I really don't know FCC requirements, but I seem to remember that there are some educational programing requirements by the local stations. There are pulic announcement, and other kinds of requirements for a local license as well.
Depending upon what CBS/CBS-News does, I wonder what would happen to local network stations picking up CBS News productions, if someone had CBS News programs classified as "fiction" and not "educational or news" back at the FCC?
Not sure it is a real possibility, but maybe someone else could flesh out the idea.
