Apologies if this should be excerpted. I can't find the excerpt list ... Is there an easy link to it?

Wow, it sounds like my life in NYC.

I wear my Bush and republican stuff/buttons shirts out in the open now. I have not done so at Fariway yet but am planning on doing so in the enar future.

How did it happen that New York City elected two consecutive mayors who call themselves Republican?

Well written. Its the same in Eastern MA. My comment: "Those who the Gods would destroy, they first make mad." Rationality has deserted these folks, like the lady who thought the polling place guards were sent there to scare her, presumably by the forces of oppression headed by GWB.

Could be Seattle, too.

My reaction when reading this: Why doesn't this guy become active and hang out with other Republicans? He probably thinks he does his civic duty by voting once a year.

I can't believe that Fox News is on the excerpt list.

Tha author, and all likeminded NYCers, should just abandon ship.

That's what I did. It's one of the best decisions I ever made.

An excellent article, thank you for posting. I've always though it would be great to spend some time in NYC, but I think I should steer clear in an election year.

One of thousands of reasons I'd rather live in my car than live in New York.

I also worry about his sending his children to that liberal school and dropping money on that liberal church. Is the Upper West Side worth that much? Yeah, my son lives there too, but then, he's a liberal. (sigh)

Wow, Mr. X, I almost hesitate to put it this way, but: I feel your pain. I myself moved out of Manhattan in the late 1980's. I wasn't from there anyway, but I'd hoped to fit in. I was the only Republican I knew at work (at least the only one willing to admit to such blasphemy). The only other like-minded people I ever met were cops or firefighters I chatted up at watering holes in the off-hours. It's a lonely life, and it seems to have gotten worse (in spite of 9/11).

I used to work in NYC and I was surrounded by the left- winged nuts. I could only imagine what it would be like now. The Upper West side is now infested with communists-that's not an exaggeration. They are intolerant hatemongers who worship at the altar of Stalin. I hope this fella learns to keep his mouth shut and just nod as though he's not into politics or just walk away. It's not worth it.
