There are also problems with the paper size, letterhead,
zip codes, terminology, abbreviations, etc.

Be sure to see all the other threads here and on the
SBVFT site.

It was the government, and spending our money would not be a problem.

When I worked for the Dept. of the Navy (1983) my first task was to write technical software documentation. My boss orginally wanted me to write it long hand, hand it off to a secretary to type, and then back to me to review/correct. Since I type 1.6B words a minute I said no effin way and that if they didn't get me a computer to do it on, I would quit. They ended up spending around $10K on a Heath/Zenith Z-100 (CP/M based) for the word processing. Good thing too, since the document ended up being 400 pages.

What I'm getting at is that the gov't spending the money on the Selectrics is not really far fetched.

The MSM just can't get away with their crap anymore, and it must be tearing them up inside (tee hee).

During last night's program, Rather stated "we are told [they] were taken from Colonel Killian's personal file."

Did Rather at any time claim that these documents were created on the dates stated thereon?

I smell a skunk.

Where, oh where could the superscript "th" be? (And check out the apostrophe, too.)

Ever notice how the left has no problem getting ahold of government files, whether these are forged or not? And notice no one ever goes to prison for it?

Dan Rather was not duped. He is the duper. He is a supporter of John Kerry and every other left-wing democrat.

Ya know, the typewriters of that period that the govt used were IBM Selectrics. And the type of the day was either pica (10 space) or elite (12 space).

No.

Pan Blather came out of an

insufficiently aborted womb

DUPED.

Oh, dear. Did I write that? Shame!

Uhhhh, let me rewrite that . . .

Pan Blather was born that way. There. That's enough.

Were the documents made by a typewriter, a microscopic inspection will reveal evidence of compression.

I just took the trouble to type the fourth memo ("SUBJECT: CYA") on Microsoft Word.  Default margins, Times New Roman font.  The spacing is EXACTLY THE SAME as the memo as reproduced on MSNBC!!!  Everything lines up exactly.

Bingo bango bongo!!

Check this out:

Watch Your Six

Watch Your Six is the term used by military aviators of which CoverYourAss (CYA) is the civilian analog. I put it in as a euphemism for such things as CYA, which is the motivation for things like PearlHarborFile(s). The issue is that when you are directed to do stupid things, you need to be sure that the system isn't setting you up as the fall guy. GetItInWriting is probably one of the related ideas. BlowingTheWhistle is a nice strategy, but tends to shorten your employment and make you unemployable to boot. So the next best thing is to make it obviously dangerous to make you the fall-guy so that such predators will search elsewhere for targets. If this sounds cynical, I've got a lot of experience watching the unscrupulous prey on the unwary. CaveatEmptor is good advice in all domains. -- RaySchneider

So military aviators would not use a term like "CYA", but "Watch Your Six" instead?

For me, Dan Rather lost the little credibilty he had left during election night 2000 when he was obviously trashed. My friend worked at a local CBS affiliate at the time and they were so embarassed by the drunken fool that they switched to CNN for most of the coverage.
