While John Kerry was a commissioned officer in the Naval Reserve, he met directly with representatives of the government of North Vietnam, a country with which America was at war at the time. Why doesn't the MSM put THAT under a microscope and examine it to death?

IMO, that should make him guilty of treason and untold violations of the UCMJ.

BTW, Bush didn't make his military service the cornerstone of his candidacy - but Kerry did. So, Kerry's military record is fair game. Bush has released his records. When will Kerry follow suit?

I just don't understand the RATs' strategy. How many people out there who are not already committed Kerry voters are going to get upset about W's TANG service records 30 years ago?

It's all about rallying your base and making it look like you are fighting back. The stark differences in the Gallup polls of likely vs. registered voters shows that Kerry's base is depressed due to his statement that he would vote the same on authorizing the use of force in Iraq and the Swift Boat attacks. He's trying to rally his base and depress the Bush vote.

They are misrepresenting what the documents say.

Newsweek is most likely playing the same game the Globe did.

They are looking at each year of Bush's record as either a jan-dec time frame...or a fiscal year time frame.
Both ways are WRONG.

Service member's years start the month they enter the service.
For example...it seems that Bush entered in (best I can find) May. His year goes may to may. Bush is required to get 50 points per year. He had more than that.

The claim of 5 months of non drills...is bogus. Bush had permission to miss drills and go to Alabama. He was allowed to fill drill hours there as his schedule would permit. He actually had more than enough points for the last year. And he recieved early discharge.
