The "helicopter" idea was better then the "10 guys holding a trampoline" idea they first thought of.

Oh dear lord. Someone on Fox is blaming Bush for this.

Well it IS all Bush's fault, dontcha know? The timing of this is suspicious.

"the establishment gonna fall down, go boom!"

Don't get me started. I get in enough trouble on this forum.

This type of recovery was done a lot back in the 60's... our first spy satellites actually took photographs on film and the canister was dropped back to earth. The parachute on the cannister would be caught by an airplane trailing a long hook behind it.

Look up the Corona Project... fascinating stuff.

He was talking about us being way overextended, so Bush did not devote the proper resources.

Bush had his mind on Iraq. Bush tax cuts are part of the problem. Oil dependence and lack of allies.

I am listening to this crap again.

(I've had a DVR in my house for 1 hour!)

Does that destroy the samples in the capsule? ~ cwiz24

Quoting from the article:
"...an impact that would shatter the set of fragile disks holding the cosmic evidence."

The short answer: Hell, yeah. ~ Prime Choice

The long answer: No. But someone is going to be spending a long time with tweezers sorting out sand into piles of silicon, diamond, sapphire, quartz and God knows what else...

They used a helicopter to snag it because they were concerned that the glass disks would be damaged even if it hit the ground with the parachute deployed.

I hope suck-ups like you are first in the pot!
