Also, if the victims had been Black, they would have labeled it A HATE CRIME!

Through a thread on StateFans.com, I found that Timothy Johnson's personal webpage is still up on NCSU's servers.

BTW, the guys in custody are from my county.

What I first thought as well, based on the way the story was written. But...The guy probably had the gun out of view, and it's possible he added the S&W .38 comment after getting directions. More plausible?

And who trusts the AP to be accurate anyway? The poor guy that gave directions to the murderer is probably way distraught. Did the AP make him appear to be a total fool and also complicit in the murders?

Good point...the story had the guy feeling very guilty, that's why I thought he saw the gun, but he might not have.
