All the hostages were dead from the beginning.

That's the right way to look at this situation. Assume that 100% of the hostages will die if nothing is done and the military just waited. Then assume that 10% will die if they go in there. 10% versus 100%. No contest there. The Russians did the right thing.

It's okay. If DU is a barometer, the wheels are coming off the Democratic wagon. They're bitching about all the undecideds who were won over by Bush last night, accusing the media of being pro-BUSH! (HA!)

"How long will Reuters continue to protect this scum???

Its 100 dead school children, not 100 bodies.

The charges were detonated by Muslim terrorists, not simply attackers. And if Julian Manyon of ITV said something about the detonation of the charges, why not quote him directly rather than paraphrase him?

The Russian troops attempted a rescue mission, they didn't just "storm" the building (like it was simply a display of testosterone). And it wasn't a two-day seige, it was a two-day hostage crisis and occupation of a school building."

That's nothing, I saw once report here on the BBC where US troops in conflict in Iraq were refered to as "US Gunmen". Shameless!

It's probably not the dog's fault. Another dog, perhaps one of its leaders like Yasser Arafat or Osama bin Laden, almost certainly infected it. It may look like a teenage Palestinian boy-- or today, even a teenage Palestinian girl. But that's your child it's menacing.

You can't negotiate with it. You can't reason with it. You can't talk it out of tearing your child's throat out and ripping her limbs off, as often happens when it uses a bomb. There is only one thing to do that's safe for your child, and it's probably the most humane thing for the dog as well. If you're part of civilized humanity, it's not only your right but also your responsibility to do it.

I understand the Russians are saying they were responding to the blasts, they didn't cause them...

And kerry would wage a more "sensitive" war with terrorists.

Terrorists? These were Chechen Rebels -- Freedom Fighters. I hear teporters are questioning Russian authorities on what military hardware must be hidden inside of the school.

How horribly sad! Hopefully all of these "undecideds" will realize how easily this could happen again in America and will vote for Bush. I hope they capture the terrorists that got away.

I haven't seen any MSM coverage of this issue. Are they covering it now?

the russians are fighting "chechnyen insurgents" they're not seeing the big picture that Al Queda is backing them. Perhaps if they focussed less on the short view, and took part in smiting the enemy at the source, things would improve.

I think you're right, although nothing has been confirmed yet. Most of the hostage takers were reportedly wearing bomb belts, the "little black dress" of the Muslim world.

The democrat media are on the side of the muslims, not on the side of the russians and the children.

It's just kids. They'd have to set up satellite feeds outside of abortion clinics if they were interested in the sanctity of life.

"I just don't want to believe that these poor children have been murdered."

Real terrorists make for 'real murder' - real killing - and worse.

I don't think they had any option in this instance. Once the terrorists started blowing themselves up the choice was made for them

I agree. If there is one thing we know about the followers of allah, they arent afraid to die. In fact it was probably a forgone conclusion. I just wish the media would start referring to these people as what they are-islamic terrorists..

To bleed infidels is the same as bleeding pigs

Anyone have any idea why most of the children have no clothes on? Why would the terrorists have the children strip down to underwear?

If it were a Reno operation everyone in the building would be dead. No water for the children, there were not many options.
