"To my fellow immigrants listening tonight, I want you to know how welcome you are in this party,"

Well that certainly won't endear him with the Tancredo wing of the party.

I'm no Arnold fan but that was a very good speech indeed. I wonder how many point the GOP might have picked up in Cali.

I said the same thing to my dad last night - I heard echos of Reagan in his speech.

I don't believe it - you're now an Arnold supporter?

First I am an American and a Republican. And if you read my initial post on this thread and my posts for the past year, you wouldn't make such a ridiculous statement. The governor gave an excellent speech. PERIOD! Now if you are going to try to make any broad stroke assumptions about my personal feelings and political beliefs simply because I complimented the governor on his speech last night, then you are making a serious mistake.

Almost twenty percent of the registered voters in CA are Independents and those of us who live here know that elections are won and lost on the Independent vote. Those voters historically do not make up their minds until the night before or the day of the election. And Arnold's speech last night carried by all the MSM certainly helped the GOP with those voters.

Arnold went yard. Only Arnold would have the stones to say Nixon was the reason he was a Republican.

Arnold gave a great speech.

I watched my wife who doesn't usually care for political speeches. Normally, she reads a book during a republican speech. We never listen to rat speeches.

A few minutes into Arnold's speech, she put her book down and really started to listen. She was shaking her head positively and verbally agreeing.

At the end, she said "I hope Arnold travels through California and other key states to support GW.!"

I agree!

Funny how many out of staters are thrilled with our governors feel good speech.

Being from California, I and others found it very strange that not once did he even mention this epic invasion of millions of illegals that are flooding into our state, not to mention the entire country now. It is California's biggest, most dangerous issue, it's caused unbelievable economic and social chaos. Yet Schwarzenegger didn't even so much as mention it.

I am glad all the out of staters are now star struck over our California governor. It didn't impress this Californian one bit.

I missed the speech but was stunned when I turned the tube on to hear Dan Blather (socialist) say something like "Arnie knocked Kerry around like a cheap hockey puck" or something to that effect. Bravo

In fairness Joe, apparently that subject is verboten to ALL the speakers. And, like you, I don't agree with that approach one bit. Still, I liked Arnold's speech very much. Very upbeat and positive.

Some of my liberal friends are claiming that Arnold said he watched the Nixon-Humphrey presidential "debates"... and there were no such debates. The only transcript that I have seen quotes Arnold as saying he watched the Nixon-Humphrey presidential "race". Does anyone remember what he actually said?

They claim Arnold is a liar because of this.
