It's definitely going to be interesting. I have been up for 30 hours now, but I just have to see this.

Well, we can at least be sure that we won't see a big group hug in that room!

Blessings to you and your family....and thank you for your service.

My stepmother's family narrowly escaped the pogroms in Latvia around the turn of the century. They literally left with their clothes on their backs. Sold everything to buy the passage to America. He started selling newspapers on the street corner here, eventually a newsstand, and then a storefront. He did very well. He became prominent in one of the local synagogues (Shaari Shomayim). Never had a government hand out to get ahead. Just hard, consistent work and a good head on his shoulders.

Our family was an incredible and interesting mix of British, Syrian, Latvian, Russian, and Swedish immigrants, all came here about the same time (1900 or so). We married into several faiths, Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Lutheran, Church of England, etc. We loved to tell ethnic/religious jokes about ourselves. As I kid, it was great. There seemed to be a holiday of some sort every month. What we had in common, is that we were all AMERICANS. Most all of the men served in the military for WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. We left our homelands for a good reason: to come here to be AMERICANS.

God Bless America!

Off topic but Leno said last night that only Kerry could indulge in a hobby(windsurfing) that depends on how the wind blows.

'Morning folks, what's the over/under on the number of minutes before Kerry says "I unlike the President, believe we can win this war against terror". or "NOW he's say he believes we can win it after two days ago saying we couldn't..we can't afford this mind-changing."

Would he go this far with his record of changing votes? I think so, remember for Libs it's always the results that matter regardless of the history.

Kerry is likely to say something that stupid. It's his trademark.

I heard this morning that he will tell the vets that he has a plan to end terorism. Will he divulge his plan or make everyone wait til he's elected? That will be a long wait.

Has this speech started or is it on at 11:00 AM Central Time?

Let's wait and see what happens this morning, now that the idea is out there that the vets can shun him.

Heheheh. They have to show up, or Kerry will pack the hall with shills. I can imagine a chant going up "One - Eight - Oh : One - Eight - Oh : One - Eight - Oh" at a suitable point in the speech. Like, if Kerry says "I served honorably."

Then he'll be on vacation again Friday thru Tuesday.

They are saying on Fox now that some are encouraging Skerry to apologize to the vets. LOL, talk about a Catch 22! Apologize and essentially say the Swift Vets were right when you were calling them baby-killers 30 yrs ago and liars, last weeK?!?!

They think calling in the Clinton strategists will help. That only worked with Clinton and will not work with a wooden liar.

Is Kerry late....AGAIN?

Not yet. The earliest time I've seen was 10:40 Central, and a news report said 11:00 Central. So, at least 10 minutes, and maybe 40 or more. Kerry arrived in Nashville last night, so he should be able to be "on time." Also, there isn't any "last minute" news to cause him to want to change his speech.

Clinton strategies worked for Clinton. He was, loathe as we may be to admit it, one of the best pure politicians of the 20th century. Kerry can't hope to match that.

My understanding was that there were a few hundred who turned their backs on him.

I think the way I heard it is that only a few turned their backs, but a much larger number sat with their arms folded across their chests -- i.e., obviously not applauding.
