Granted that JFKs military record does need offical investigation, that does not mean it will happen. However, just the thought of it could rattle the cage some more. No way to guess the direction or outcome on this one.

I have a feeling that this is a rehash of a story I posted this weekend that is still valid and has legs.

We have a ton of documentation on this thread and ask that people with new info to patch a link on this thread to their new thread or via a reply.

Kerry citation a 'total mystery' to ex-Navy chief (John Lehman)

Kerry citation a 'total mystery' to ex-Navy chief

August 28, 2004

BY THOMAS LIPSCOMB

Former Navy Secretary John Lehman has no idea where a Silver Star citation displayed on Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry's campaign Web site came from, he said Friday. The citation appears over Lehman's signature.

"It is a total mystery to me. I never saw it. I never signed it. I never approved it. And the additional language it contains was not written by me," he said.

The additional language varied from the two previous citations, signed first by Adm. Elmo Zumwalt and then Adm. John Hyland, which themselves differ. The new material added in the Lehman citation reads in part: "By his brave actions, bold initiative, and unwavering devotion to duty, Lieutenant (jg) Kerry reflected great credit upon himself...."

Asked how the citation could have been executed over his signature without his knowledge, Lehman said: "I have no idea. I can only imagine they were signed by an autopen." The autopen is a device often used in the routine execution of executive documents in government.

Kerry senior adviser Michael Meehan could not be reached for comment on Kerry's records.

Everybody needs to take a deep breath and hope that the coming weeks don't bring so much dirt that Kerry steps aside. Just enough dirt to make him stay in the ring and take a thrashing.

Kerry's DD-214 (EFFCTIVE DATE 03-01-70), item 24 - "DECORATIONS MEDALS BADGES COMMENDATIONS CITATIONS AND CAMPAIGN RIBBONS AWARDED OR AUTHORIZED" shows "BRONZE STAR WITH COMBAT 'V'" and "SILVER STAR WITH COMBAT 'V.'"

Neither the Zumwalt nor Lehman Citations for Kerry's Silver Star mention a "Combat V." However, the Zumwalt Citation for Kerry's Bronze Star says, "Lieutenant (junior grade) KERRY is authorized to wear the Combat 'V'." In the Lehman version of the same Citation, this whole line is deleted and replaced with, "The Combat Distinguishing Device is authorized." These Citations are undated and there is no clear or official explanation of where the Lehamn versions came from or why they were issued.

There may be other variances. The 1970 DD214 makes no mention of several other awards including the "Naval Unit Citation Ribbon." The "Naval Unit Citation Ribbon" is listed on the revised DD214 (Form DD 215) dated 3/12/2001, almost 30 years later.

I seriously doubt this is happening--especially given the timing. Even if it were (a bit IF), and they found Kerry had fabricated everything (an even BIGGER IF), the findings would go nowhere. It would look too politically motivated. The time to do this sort of thing would have been 3 years ago.

Is there an investigation underway with the Navy or is the Navy investigating the accusation? The former technically says that there is an investigation underway which is outside Navy channels which has passed information to the Navy. The latter says someone actually filed a criminal complaint and the Navy is investigating the actual citation versus what is posted on Kerry's website (or some other aspect of Kerry's apparent fraudulent claims such as the basis for the Silver Star being awarded or circumstances for the various Purple Hearts.)

I have a question regarding Kerry and I would be very happy if anyone could answer it.

Kerry's entire Vietnam experience, it seems, was a pack of lies. He impressed his peers and his superiors with his incompetence and his medal seeking. Then, he came home and denounced everyone who served. He threw away his medals. Later, it seems, he had someone forge his paperwork so that he could re-arrange the context of his medals. How did he think he could fool so many intelligent and influential people and get away with it?

Well! No wonder he's firing everybody in sight. Not to worry, though. Navy investigation will be characterized as a 'Bush smear', and the MSM will stick their collective heads in the sand until it all blows over. I suspect the American Legion folks aren't going to be thrilled with this behavior on Kerry's part. It just gets worse and worse. Heheheheheh.
