If you read SLEEPING WITH THE PRESIDENT by Gennifer Flowers, she said Clinton operates like a mafia boss, like a ganster boss. Sounds to me like that is the MO of the DNC.

Probably more a case of mis-remembering his title than telling a lie. Is there any evidence that he did not do what he claimed he did? It seems he had a lot of political power regardless of the office he held.

Highly doubtful. Speaker and Lite Guv are two very different offices in Texas for a year and a half out of every two years. That other half a year is when the legislature is in session and each heads his respective chamber. But when the legislature is out of session, all the state reps go home to other jobs, the speaker included. Barnes' other job, from what I've read, would have placed him in Switzerland in 1968, the year Bush enlisted.

Is there any evidence that he did not do what he claimed he did?

Well, the entire story so far is built around his single claim that he did do something. It seems now that his recollection isn't very credible, so that is grounds enough to dismiss it.
