Shenzhen is an industrial zone while Beijing is more historical!
Not a problem for me because I don't speak Chinese. And any time I might expect to go there, it would again likely be to speak at some conference or another.
LOL -- it's hard to get less historical than Shenzhen... because 25 years ago it was little more than an isolated train stop. (I saw a picture of it once.) Then Deng Xiaoping made it a Special Economic Zone, and the place exploded. I've never seen a more modern city, with some quite interesting-looking buildings. Go to this site, enter "Shenzhen" for city, and look (for example) at the Shenzhen Special Zone Press Tower. From the ground the connection of that globe (it's several stories high) to the rest of building isn't that visible.
Khashayar, I just looked up Tehran on that site. What can you tell me about the Borj-e Milad tower? (And when was the Azadi Tower built?)
Milad tower is like Seattle tower, Toronto tower and it is the 4th highest tower of the world.
Milad tower is a remaining project from the Shah era which this government is trying to finish. They have started building the tower in late 1990s and that will be finished within the next year. It is almost finished now but some cover works and equipment installations still needed. It has some major conference halls, restaurants, hotel and a communication station. Its height is 430 meters.
Azadi(freedom) tower (Former Shahyad tower before 1979) was built in early 1970s and located in west of Tehran near Mehrabad Int'l airport. It has a nice museum and hall inside. and the height of the tower is 45 meters.

I agree. I'd enjoy visiting as well. As a woman, I'd want to be sure I would not draw any unwanted attention from 'mad mullahs' whether or not I was with male relatives. An older friend-teacher of mine traveled to Iran by herself in the late 70's as a single woman in her 30's and art instructor and she loved it. She has been longing to return, but the rest is history. She'd still love to return. She had long regaled us with stories of the people and history and art of the place. And the relative freedoms of the women of Iran, at least at that time.
She was/is so true. I hope Iran becomes a touristic place soon just like the 70s.
All people of the world should come here and see the realities themselves. Media lie about Iranian people and we are not as bad as your media say... ;-)
