And I agree.
As much as we like to think that the prevailing thought here on FR is the prime mover for Conservatives all over the country, it simply isn't so.
We are not main stream Conservatives, at least in the modern definition of Conservatism.
We lack the "compassion" and the "moderation" required to be among the majority. This compassion and moderation would have been defined as socialism fifty years ago, but somehow those are desirable traits now.
By the same token, although there is a vast difference between Republicans on this forum and the general Democrat population, there is very little difference between main stream Republicans and Democrats.
We have a polarization between Ultra Conservatives and Radical Liberals and a blending of everyone in between.
Until a more definitive line can be drawn through our population delineating the accepted Conservative values of Republicanism in the true sense as opposed to Socialism in the real sense, we will continue to elect legislators who are neither or both, dependent entirely on the situation.

That is where we differ - in the end game - I'll use it before burying it. (If/when it comes to that point.)

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger,
Please veto horrid legislation that is coming to your desk. The following bills must be vetoed:
AB50, which would ban the sale and possession of .50 caliber rifles, SB1140, the Negligent Storage Bill, and SB1152, the Ammo and Fingerprint Registration Bill.
Laws concerning public endangerment and child neglect are currently in place and address issues pertaining to unauthorized access of firearms by minors. Please remember that major law-enforcement organizations do not support SB1140.
No .50 caliber rifles have ever been used in a crime. Banning possession of .50 caliber rifles will do nothing to curb crime or get firearms out of criminals' hands.
Thank you,
The Governor signed AB50 into law today.
Governor Schwarzenegger hates our liberties. That is for sure.
