...well, this is worthless. He wasn't present in Vietnam for these treatments, so he can't say for sure what really happened. At least, that's what Kerry's team would say about anyone elses assessment if they didn't personally sign off on each of the exams.

Well purple hearts are allowable for self inflicted wounds, so that doesn't bother me. If he has lied and claimed his first one was for combat wounds, that is important.

However, it really isn't this guys Vietnam record that's important, although if he has been lying about it, which he obviously has it will hurt him.

Its his anti-war and 19 years of liberal voting in the Senate that are what will undo him. He can't hide from almost 35 years of truth by pretending 4 months in Vietnam trump it.

I have a neighbor who still has shrapnel in his leg from ricochet in Italy from enemy fire and never got a purple heart. He was in the engineering division and was not supposed to be allowed at the front, but was sent there anyway because he was the only one in the area that could fix the machine. While repairing it a bullet hit the machine and put shrapnel in his leg... he couldn't go to the hospital because if he did his commander would catch hell for sending him to the front. So he got through the injury, came home, still has shrapnel from it almost 60 years later in his leg and no purple heart.

If he got the medal legit, so what. Its not his medals that will be his undoing. If he lied about it, yes that will hurt him! However the lies he has told about vietnam that are the most damning are not the ones about his medals, they are the lies he told america and congress after coming back, and the 19 years in the senate he has done everything to undermine the US that he could.

9 Simple words say it all:

John Kerry can not be trusted with National Security.

This man is a psychopath. He still to this day believes that his seditious and treasonous actions upon returning to the United States and protesting the war, and lying about the war to the people and the Congress were "serving their country". He believes these communist dupes and their supporters were patriots! Hell with the men who died and were tortured and suffered because of his actions! Hell with the fact that North Korean Generals have admitted the war was lost for them up until Kerry's testimony before congress!

This man is a TRAITOR in every sense of the word, and to this day he is still unapologetic for it!

No, self inflicted wounds can receive the purple heart, I do believe though that if gross negligence caused the self inflicted wound it does not qualify. Someone in the military I am sure will point out the actual requirements.

If you take Kerry's account at face value, the 3rd Purple Heart is legit. He was wounded in the course of action to destroy enemy assets. This is legitimate basis for a Purple Heart under the regulations. The fact that the wound was stupid and freakish just points out the absurd nature of war.

The 2nd Purple Heart counts, because there was actual enemy fire. It does not matter how much or how Kerry was wounded. Wounded in the course of hostile action is sufficient.

The 1st Purple Heart is the one that stinks to high heaven.

That and the purple prose on the Bronze Star citation.

Kerry's second Purple Heart
a. Kerry claims that on February 20, 1969, in the midst of intense rocket and rifle fire, he was hit in the left leg by shrapnel from a rocket-propelled grenade. (p. 77)

I see you prefaced your summary with this being Kerry's 2nd PH. But lots of readers are easily confused, and won't catch that.

The admission that FoxNews' Major Garret reported is related to the 1st PH, for an incident on December 2, 1968.

Kerry would not be AWOL because he was following orders. He was not absent, and leave does not enter into it.

He is a lowdown, glory hound who lies and cheats to get ahead. He left his "Brothers in Arms" in the lurch, and slandered them as soon as he got back to "the World".

That should be enough.

If I understand the rules correctly, if there was NO enemy fire at the time, Kerry should NOT have received the Purple Heart, injury or no injury.

The real meat is in the 1st PH, 3rd PH and the Bronze Star. That's where Kerry's mendacity really shines through.

The Silver Star too. Rood's recent story supports the Swift Boat Veterans in that Kerry did not beach in the face of numberically superior enemy while under intense fire.

The mendacity is really the sum of all -- no single one of these would break him, on its own. But the sum of his actions in Vietnam and on his return shines a bright light on his character. He would sell out ANYBODY to advance his personal ambition.

Yes. They have mapped out all kinds of spins and ways over, under, around this problem, not through it. You can be certain they have at least 10 scenarios to either change the subject, make the accusers the issue, add other issues, demand Bush information release, then if not successful, label the ads as smear and attack ads, finally, agree in part and say 'let's move on.' Their final tactic will be passive, that is, hope that time will run its course and the US people will be tired of the story by November. That is why I am beginning to think this thing should really have started in late SEPTEMBER, not late JULY!!!

I believe that if the claim that Kerry was at the VVAW meeting where they voted on whether to asassinate US Senators is ever proven true, and he did not report it, then he is toast. I think that is the most serious charge and will make people of all walks of life sit up and take notice.

I'd like to see O'Reilly bring Micheal Moore back on and ask him over and over again to admit Kerry is a liar just as Moore accused Bush.

Correct that, a Liar and a Fraud, by the standards ole Maggot head set himself on O'Really's show.

But then again by his own Standards, based on his stories told in his "Documentaries" Micheal Moore is a Liar and Fraud himself.

If you set aside the controversial parts of the book-how he got this medal or that medal and just focus on the undisputed facts listed on the back of the book, that even Kerry's band of brothers are not denying, you get a very disturbing picture of who this guy is. Not one of the facts below, are being denied by anyone, including Kerry, because there is proof. That is why the media is just focusing on the Medal controversies and not on the parts of the book that there is solid evidence to support.

Unfit for Command (the back cover)

Unfit for Command reveals a real John Kerry you don't know - the true John Kerry that his political image-makers are trying to hide. But the Veterans who served with him know him better, and in Unfit for Command, they tell their stories, including:

o How all three of John Kerry's Purple Hearts were for minor injuries, easily treated with band-aids, not requiring a single hour of hospitalization?

o How captured Americans were tortured in North Vietnamese prisons for not endorsing John Kerry's false testimony-before the United States Senate-about alleged war crimes.

o How John Kerry carried a typewriter and an 8-mm home movie camera with him to Vietnam so he could record his own exaggerated version of his war exploits and film staged reenactments of his "combat actions" to advance his political career.

o Why John Kerry's photograph hangs in a place of honor in the Vietnamese Communist "War Remnants Museum" in Ho Chi Minh City.

Want to know the real John Kerry? Read Unfit for Command - and prepare to be shocked.

You're all gonna blow a gasket when your typical Kerry supporter say that he accepts that Kerry was a medal-grubbing glory hound who was awarded medals fraudulently, but they don't care, because he's still better than George W. Bush.

O'Neill has said that the object of the Swift Boat Veterans activity is to inform the public. If, being informed, the public chooses Kerry, so be it.

LTJG JOHN F. KERRY, USNR, HSHRAPNEL WOUND LEFT BUTTOCK AND CONTUSION RT. FOREARM (MINOR);

The MSM up till now has been relying heavily on "official Navy records". Their assumption is that the "contemporaneous documentation" must be right unless PROVEN WRONG.

Here is an instance where the Kerry side admits the Navy records are inaccurate.

Therefore, why should the rest of the contemporaneous documentation be trusted?

Isn't a self inflicted wound, intentional or otherwise, not a legitimate qualification for a purple heart?

The short answer is that self-inflicted wounds do not qualify for a PH. Max Clelland did not get a PH for the grenade accident that cost him his legs and one arm.

There are exceptions, e.g., an accidentally (not negligently) self inflicted wound in the heat of battle.

I doubt that Kerry shrapnel in his body. Per New York Sun, Kerry had an MRI in February. MRI's are not allowed for patients with shrapnel.

....

The New York Sun March 30, 2004...

"In a conference call with reporters yesterday, Mr. Kerry's surgeon, Bertram Zarins, said the senator has a partial tear of the subscapularis tendon in his rotator cuff. Dr. Zarins said the injury stemmed from a mishap in January on the Kerry campaign bus in Iowa."

""The senator was walking down the aisle and the bus suddenly lurched. Senator Kerry grabbed a railing and wrenched his shoulder," Dr. Zarins said. Mr. Kerry later complained of shoulder pain. In February, he underwent an MRI test that revealed the tear."

"Dr. Zarins said he and Mr. Kerry initially opted for a wait-and-see approach regarding the shoulder, hoping that the pain would abate. It did not."

.....

From "Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)" at http://www.spineuniverse.com/displayarticle.php/article248.html

"Patients need to tell their physician if their body contains any ferromagnetic objects such as shrapnel, a pacemaker, or aneurysm clips. These patients cannot undergo MRI study. Ferromagnetic objects are attracted by the MRI's magnet."
